Ken Clark, CFP, author of The Complete Idiot's Guide(r) to Getting Out of Debt, has been providing financial advice for over a decade. He earned his Certificate of Financial Planning from the College of Financial Planning in Colorado. After college, he worked for PaineWebber (now UBS) managing investments for individuals, families, and businesses. He is also the college savings guide at About.

Normally the Idiot's Guides tend to have a little more humor and light-heartedness, but this one seemed more doom and gloom. It's definitely a very basic introduction to overall concepts. It plugs several other books throughout it for further in depth reading. Dec 15, 2017 Heather rated it it was ok. Shelves: non-fiction. The problem that I find with these types of books is that a lot of them, including this one, are American.

Even if you find yourself to be an incredibly financially savvy individual, this book is a good read. It delves into many different areas where money is involved, including your banking structure, credit cards, retirement accounts, investment accounts, auto purchases, college, and insurance. More importantly, this book has some great resources on how to bargain down some of your existing fees how to prepare for obscure fees in the future. I would recommend this book to anyone with OR without a financial background.
