Prepared by Jonathan Berk and Peter DeMarzo. As a colleague of both of us, Mark Rubinstein inspired us with his passion to get the history of finance right by correctly attributing the important ideas to the people who first enunciated them. Provides detailed, accuracy-verified, class-tested solutions to every chapter Problem. See the Instructor’s Resource Center for spreadsheet solutions to select chapter Problems and Data Cases. We have used his book, A History of the Theory of Investments: My Annotated Bibliography, extensively in this text and we, as well as the profession as a whole, owe him a debt of gratitude for taking the time to write it all down. End-of-chapter problems written personally by Jonathan Berk and Peter DeMarzo offer instructors the opportunity to assign first-rate materials to students for homework and practice with the confidence that the problems are consistent with chapter content. Both the problems and solutions, which were also written by the authors, have been class-tested and accuracy-checked to ensure quality.

Peter DeMarzo, Stanford University.

I ordered this book for an MBA course. The material is presented in a straight-forward manner and the chapters are explained enough, however I don't know if I would recommend this book to anyone looking to teach themselves this subject, as there are surely other textbooks out there that are more dynamic for self-starters. Having a professor teaching in conjunction with this material is a must in my opinion.

*Please Note* Make SURE when ordering this book you realize that this is NOT the COMPLETE edition of this text; hence "The Core" in the title. There are around 300 extra pages in the full text (seen here: http://www.amazon.com/Corporate-Finance-MyFinanceLab-Pearson-Student/dp/0132745097/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328471461&sr=8-1).

If buying for class, make sure to check what chapters are covered in your course; if this text meets your needs, it is a great way to save some money as opposed to buying the full edition.
Missing two full chapters
This may not be the book you are looking for. It is the Global Edition and is not the same as the fourth edition.
An excellent introduction to (corporate) finance. The book starts off with the time value of money concepts and slowly progresses to the more nuanced aspects in corporate finance. It gives an excellent foundation to different theories and uses it to explain phenomena experienced in the financial markets.
Saved so much money compared to the schools prices. Especially when your in college and need to pinch pennies.
Books as is as good as your teacher is. We had awesome teacher and I like the book
I'm actually buying this book not for a specific class, but because many top 10 finance programs use this book. I got the older edition for about 10% of the cost of the current edition.
This is a textbook on corporate finance. This book is pretty dull, it's just straight information on Income Statements, Balance Sheets, etc. Not very interesting.
