Wasn't quite what I was looking for in a book.
Lost Python
I'm supposed to be doing something else, but can't put this book down. Organized around the concept of a Roadmap, describes the big picture goals, obstacles, trends and needed R&D for several areas of sustainable energy such as residential building, commercial building, hydrogen power, lighting, etc. I'm not enough of an energy policy expert to judge the completeness or truth of the details, but as a big fan of alternative energy and construction find this an interesting summary and snapshot as of 2004 of where we are and need to go, where the leading edge people are pushing and where they need to push more.

Presents points, conclusions cleanly rather than argues a case for each. Not enough quantitative detail or theory to interest an engineer, physicist or economist. Often states the obvious - e.g the need to design houses for ease of conversion of bedrooms into offices - but if that were really so obvious, why aren't our houses and apartments already built so? This book could serve a purpose of keeping innovators and policymakers on track, to not forget essential points. Many points made are good, but I crave more depth (but I am a physicist.) I give fewer stars for that, but like that it covers so many energy subjects with the unified Roadmap concept.

Many bullet point lists, tables along with regular text and some illustrations Index is brief, but the strong organization of chapters and sections makes it easy to find anything particular.
