I was very pleased with the book I purchased. The price was unbeatable and the book was exactly as described. Pretty good overview of environmental science. Published by Thriftbooks. I will definitely use this sellar again. com User, 18 years ago. I took a class which used this textbook at the University of California, Santa Barbara, which was co-taught by one of the authors, Ed Keller. This is an introductory book that provides a decent overview of the problems we are currently facing in regard to the environment, what we can do to solve those problems, and other opportunities that our environment can give us.

This introduction to environmental issues contains five integrating themes: the global scope of environmental issues; the importance of urban environments; sustainability; human population; and the ethical and economic basis for making choices about environmental issues. These themes are introduced at the beginning and are referred to throughout. In addition, each chapter begins with a case study illustrating the issues discussed.

I purchased this book a few months ago, as a means of self studying for the AP Environmental Science exam. So far, this book has proved to be excellent in successfully learning the material, and emphasizes the everlasting dispute between science and values. I initially wanted to only take this test for some easy college credit; however, Environmental Science has now become a very interesting subject for me thanks to this amazing book. Through great pictures and maps, the reader can more thoroughly comprehend the material. I definately give this book 5 stars, as it is greatly written and has made me far more interested in the subject.

This book is better than the newer editions. My professor uses this edition and teaches us everything straight from the book. Easy to comprehend and learn. Cheap and great book!
