I was either going to give this five stars or no stars, but why not be generous? Five stars because it provides well paced, well meaning motivation to get on and do things. Shouting "Just Do It" a hundred times just doesn't work for me, or for most people I suspect. No stars because it doesn't actually tell you how to do things, apart from a discourse on SMART objectives. It is actually all talk and no action. No little checklists, daily affirmations, paper exercises, well, not enough that you will notice. But here's the thing. After reading this book, I actually knuckled down and did all the things I have been meaning to do for the past three months. So who knows. Maybe there was some sophisticated psychology going on here, maybe only you can work out what it is you have to do, and only you can do it. It worked for me, what more can I say.

As we approach the end of 2011, and the start of a New Year, most of us will get into the psychology of starting afresh, setting fresh goals, renewing promises and commitments and making New Year Resolutions.

The best resolution anyone of us can make is: 'Stop Talking, Start Doing". This may sound simple but it is very profound and if applied with discipline and consistency, it will take us places. It will lead to a life of fulfillment, satisfaction and a "joie de vivre". Most of us are born procrastinators, we have this usual human tendency of putting off things, thinking that we will have plenty of time tomorrow or next week or next month or next year, and time just flies, and we never start.

We get sucked into the Fear-Regret-Greater Fear- Greater Regret- Depression cycle. This is so well highlighted in Shaa's book and it is a great message, motto and reminder for action. The more we delay "doing" due to irrational fear of the "unknown" or discomfort, we accumulate regret. And regret weighs more than fear, and the burden keeps increasing the more we just talk and talk and not do and do. And when we look behind, ten years have gone by and we are still stuck.

Stop Talking and Start Doing is really a kick in the Pants and the sooner you get that kick the better, you will save a lot of time, energy and more importantly regret.

So if you want to make a Resolution let it be Stop Talking - Start Doing, and I promise you, when you look back in December 2012, you would be proud of yourself.

Simple to read, well illustrated, well organised, very profound message.

Hats off to Shaa Wasmund who has written very powerful stuff at very young age and has achieved so much. And her secret is now revealed, she "STOPPED TALKING, STARTED DOING" from very early and she keeps doing.

Must buy!

I was inspired by this little book; the "white space" around lots of the phrases and words provided emphasis without "screaming" at you. So much of life's successes are baswed on what appears to be obvious; but the cartoons, and language take the "obvious" to a level where I could easi.ly see myself overcoming obstacles; i.e., procrastination; thinking I could actually realize my dreams. Worth the money.

My review title says it all. Well organised and written. In case you want something to boost yourself up, you will find it helpful, even for fans of Seth Godin and Guy Kawasaki. In short, recommended.

The Eurofighter is one of the fifth generation of fighter jets. And these cutting edge aircraft were built to be unstable. Of course, it’s not called being unstable. It’s called Relaxed Stability…..what makes the plane so extravagantly maneuverable….The hard thing with the Eurofighters isn’t swooping, turning and looping,; the hard thing was staying on the same old course. Those pilots in their comfortable old fighters, in their armchairs, didn’t stand a chance against the pilots who were in the discomfort zone. This is where you win. Outside the comfort zone. Pg91

Once you start something the subconscious brain wont let you stop. So you’ll have your own internal slave-driver whipping you on. It’s called the Zeigarnik effect. A Russian psychologist., Bluma Zeigarnik, was intrigued to learn that waiters could take complicated orders from a large group of students and remember them perfectly without writing them down. But as soon as the bill had been paid waiters’ memories of what had been ordered fell apart….Her conclusion was that once a project had been set running the subconscious was keeping constant track of it and would badger the waiter to make sure it got completed. It was as if any interruption to a task becomes a psychic disturbance that unsettles the brain. Pg117
