I have two other books of Will Shortz' word puzzle books and this one is more of the same greatness. I teach high school and use these puzzles as bellringer/warm-up activities to start class. My students almost always love them once they understand the "rules" for each puzzle (teenagers aren't always the best at reading directions - go figure). The puzzles are great for developing reasoning skills and vocabulary and they're fun. I can't say enough good things about them. Check out the other Puzzlemaster books, too.

A good variety of word puzzles that can be done rapid-fire like a game show while sitting around the campfire or in a car on a road trip. I have taken this book and Will Shortz's Puzzlemasters and Brain Busters on several adult camping/backpacking/rafting/hiking trips and they are always crowd pleasers!!!! It's compact, lightweight format makes it easy to stuff in your pack!

I have all three of Will Shortz's word puzzle books. They are the greatest wordplay books. I use them daily with my 6-8 grade middle school gifted students as their problem of the day. I would highly recommend these books. Some puzzles are easier than others, and some puzzles have words and phrases in them that children are unfamiliar with. But for the most part, these have been very helpful in my classroom use. I am waiting for Mr. Shortz to produce others just like this one and the other puzzlemaster books!!

If you enjoy Mr. Shortz's weekly "Puzzle" appearance on NPR, you'll love this little collection. The best thing is, all of the puzzles can be done in your head so that the book can be passed on to friends or family to be enjoyed by all.

Bought this for my mother-in-law, who is recovering from a stroke and likes to read this for therapy. Liked it so much, I bought an extra copy for road trips with my kids: ages 11, 12.

Great little book that makes you think. For someone like me who can't do crossword puzzles this is another way to use my brain. These are not too difficult either. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Fun. Now I don't have to wait for Sunday morning.
My wife loves these puzzles. They're easily understandable but tough to figure out. A good challenge indeed. Keeping her brain busy.
