That is the question. For some, the answer is "Yes! Yes! Who wouldn't want to have a baby!" For others the answer is clear - "NO BREEDING. NO BABIES." Whichever one is your choice (and it is a choice), you'll find this book a fun read.

The authors approach the sometimes taboo topic of deciding not to have children with humor and concrete considerations one should think about if pondering the addition of tiny footsteps to their life. Do you want to give up all your Saturday mornings from now until forever? Have kids and it will be cereal and cartoons at 7 am instead of sleeping until 10 and having a leisurely read of the paper while sipping a latte.

The book pokes fun at parenthood and highlights the not so endearing qualities that babies, toddlers, kids and teenagers possess. It is not a book that says being a parent is a bad thing. Those who decide to remain childless are not cold or without compassion. Not all of them hate children, a lot of them LOVE kids, but know that being a parent is not for them. The book also highlights the great opportunity of being an auntie or uncle, compared to a mommy or daddy.

It's a funny book, a quick read, and can be enjoyed by breeders and non-breeders alike. (But I wouldn't recommend giving it as a gift at a baby shower.)

Adorardana

This humorous book with silly illustrations moves along and makes the childless by choice population rejoice in our smart decision! It's funny, clever and cute. This would be a terrible choice of book for those wanting but can't have children as it lacks sensitivity. But, it's a hoot for those of us who like sleeping in on a Saturday, like our independence, like our adult living spaces and like not spending all our hard earned money on diapers and school tuition. As you might guess, I identified strongly with this book!

Not too bad. I did enjoy the tips on handling nosy people who ask why you don't have kids. The comparisons of cars hit home. My two-door sports car sits out amongst ten-seater tanks in any parking lot. And no one has barfed on my leather seats either. The only things I didn't quite agree with were the advice to have adult only events, and eat at fancy restaurants. People will drag the screamers to anything, terrified to be away from them for a few hours. We once had a trivia group who all met once a month for potluck and games. One woman started bringing her bratty kid, even insisting he play too. I can't tell you how people were turned off. As for avoiding restaurants where fried are served with everything by a goofy mascot, true. But we have purposely went to posh eateries for anniversaries, etc, only to have the night ruined there too. It's not too much to ask that if we spend $75 on a meal, we have a peaceful one. Unfortunately there's no place to run! I even fall over ten year old boys in the ladies' room. Either he's too dense to go by himself to the men's room, or Daddy is sitting back at the table too lazy to take him himself. I wish books like these were placed in public areas. Author is right about looking for clues like anything labeled "family friendly." Our Army post here is always called FF and we knew right away what it meant. All kid oriented activites, all the time. If you're looking for something to do for just the adults, or you have no kids, you're out of luck! Where can I buy a Baby Not On Board sign for my car?

This is not a serious discussion of the childfree lifestyle. It's not supposed to be. It is, however, a really enjoyable jaunt into the humorous side of the baby debate. You can read a few pages and put it down and come back to it and not feel lost. There's a new topic or viewpoint on almost every page. It's all over the place on all of the issues involved with having kids. I recommend this for a good laugh. For a more serious book on the subject check out Childfree and Loving it! by Nicki Defago.

I just finished reading "Baby Not on Board". It was hilarious! It wasn't the type of book that weighs the pros and cons of having children vs. not having children. This book mostly highlights the perks of not having kids, and it focuses on all the amazing things you can accomplish if you don't have kids. I would recommend this book to anyone who feels "on the fence" about having kids. There's so much pressure to have children, so this book was a breath of fresh air.

As someone who does not fit the norm of wanting to have kids this book is a great read. For those who have kids (or want kids) this book will give you insight into how the rest of us feel.

Not only did i laugh out loud while reading this book, but it was the FIRST one that handled the subject of 'life without kids' HONESTLY. So many of those i've read came off as apologetic & always feel the need to clarify a love of children. 'Baby Not on Board' was a guilt-free approach for those of us who may NOT love all children. Illustrations are hilarious, too.

I got a few books on the subject of kid-free lifestyle, and this one left me flat. Much of it just wasn't funny, more like a "how to" pamphlet. Too many obvious subjects and areas to skip over....It's *OK*, but no better.
