Home Chelsea Handler Lies That Chelsea Handler Told M. My name is Chelsea Handler and I’m not proud of myself. I have made a career out of being a misanthrope with the maturity level of an eight-year-old who had to repeat the third grade several times. For those of you who have read my other books, the names of some of the recurring characters in this book may confuse you. The reason being, when I first started writing books, I was instructed to change all names and likenesses to protect people and their privacy, and also to protect myself from being sued by people I had allowed to penetrate me. My obsessive nature stems from a family history of absolute anxiety and neurosis. I’m a classic neurotic Jew.

Home Chelsea Handler Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me. Home, . Since Chelsea’s friends have all been trained by Chelsea, they joined in with her. Amy started saying that she’d noticed Gina giving me the eye a couple of times while we were lounging at the pool, and Sarah said she thought she’d overheard Gina asking Michael Broussard if I had any interest in a long-term commitment.

Chelsea is an asshole. This book was a collection of stories from Chelsea's friends and family, about all of the times she has terrorized them and basically ruined their lives. Chelsea does not play practical jokes, these are long, drawn out spectacles that usually leave the recipient in tears or a panic attack or on the verge of a stress induced stroke. think they are on drugs, saying completely inappropriate and dirty things in English to solely Spanish speaking individuals, or any of the other completely over exaggerated and dragged out "practical jokes" she played on her "friends".

It's no lie: Chelsea Handler loves to smoke out "dumbassness," the condition people suffer from that allows them to fall prey to her brand of complete and utter nonsense.

The one thing she hates more than anything in life is a liar, and yet Chelsea lies more than anyone else.

The one thing she hates more than anything in life is a liar, and yet Chelsea lies more than anyone else thy Griffin’s pubes. No, we’re talking about emotionally crippling lies. If she sees your weakness, she pounces. In fact, that’s really the underlying premise of this book. The back cover doesn’t say it, but it should read, Here’s the deal, Chelsea Handler mercilessly fucks with those around her. They all just have to take it, and here are some of their pathetic stories.

"My tendency to make up stories and lie compulsively for the sake of my own amusement takes up a good portion of my day and provides me with a peace of mind not easily attainable in this economic climate."--Chelsea Handler, from Chapter 10 of Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang It's no lie: Chelsea Handler loves to smoke out "dumbassness," the condition people suffer from that allows them to fall prey to her brand of complete and utter nonsense. Friends, family, co-workers--they've all been tricked by Chelsea into believing stories of total foolishness and into behaving like total fools. Luckily, they've lived to tell the tales and, for the very first time, write about them.

Couldn't put this book down and re-read several times.
Chelsea Handler is endearingly hilarious on the outside. She laughs at herself, most importantly.
I saw a YouTube vid of her entitled Russell Brand DESTROYS Chelsea Handler.
The odd things about that title was that Brand was the one who got " DESTROYED. " Men like to throw around the term " destroyed "because the idea of that power and ability to crush things excites them. That's why we have war.
Anyhoo.
That was my one viewing of Chelsea live and I thought she was great.
And I thought Brand's hair did look a lot like Amy Winehouses in that YouTube video.
Totally digressed.
Lies that Chelsea told me interested me so much because of the combination of love, loyalty, and dirty tricks Chelsea plays on people.
The irreverence. Sending the Cable executive, Mr.Falcon, the email requests to meet for lunch to exchange ideas on the Mid East ? Priceless. That was one of my favorite stories.

I did think it was really mean to damage a Chelsea Live producer's ballsack by giving him wedgies.
The stories of her assistant's OCD and of her brother Ray being egged on to commit ridiculous acts had me in tears. There's a joke that she engineers between her brother and one of her assistants that me laugh till I peed.
Best of all is that her victims can joke about it.

Cute book. It definitely had a lot of funny moments in it. This book is written by Chelsea's friends, work colleagues, and family who have a lot of random interesting tales of her hilarious comedic pranks. It's interesting to see how she is viewed by her stylists, family members, and professional staff on the show. Seems like she is always trying to get a laugh in somewhere, even at the expense of other people. She does seem to treat her staff very well, she is generous with her money, and I think that that's very kind of her--you will see that as well in the book.
The first chapter was a real bore for me, actually. It didn't really make a ton of sense and was very difficult to follow. The author in the chapter was always skipping topics and subjects, and going right into a totally different subject. A lot of bouncing around, as if he/she couldn't really focus on one plot or storyline. But I did love the other chapters. Chunk's chapter at the end of the book was cute and endearing, but also unnecessary as Chunk is her dog.
This book made it interesting to see how she is viewed by people, her staff and crew especially, and I thought it was very wise of her to include candid photos of her and the crew, or even strange and silly photos of them all together all throughout the book. The photos (were not in color in the version that I had purchased), were definitely a great addition.
But just remember, as I've said on here before sometimes the Amazon prices on here for her books are pretty ridiculous. I find most of her rotating books (never read by anyone totally new), at my local Barnes and Nobles, and they are always selling for less than 5.00 each, for a new book. So that may be cheaper for you avid readers out there, also I think it will be the last Chelsea book that I buy from Amazon, because like I said, at my local B&N I can get them much much more cheaper than they sell her books on here for.

Delighted with this book. Chelsea Handler always makes me laugh and listening to her read her own book brings a whole new element to it. This particular book is about all of the ridiculous lies that Chelsea tells to her friends, coworkers, significant others and all of those who are dumb enough to believe her. Most all of her books are definitely for adults only!

I am a HUGE Chelsea Handler fan and have read all of her books. I was excited to read this book about Chelsea and her crazy antics and for the most part it kept me fairly entertained. The problem with having a compilation of stories from different people is that some people are just better writers than others. Some of the comedians that are really funny on her show just didn't deliver when it came to getting their jokes across on paper. I think that being funny while writing is a real talent and unfortunately not everyone has that talent. So some chapters are super funny and some just made me cringe. Overall, it does give great insight into who Chelsea is and all the torment she puts her friends and family through! The highlights for me were the chapters written by Chelsea's siblings. Their chapters were actually funnier than the ones written by her staff, which surprised me. And of course the absolute funniest parts of the book are the short commentaries that Chelsea writes at the end of each chapter! Loved it! I would totally recommend it, but just know going in that it will not be as hilarious as a Chelsea original.

I said in my review for "Horizontal Life," that I would have loved to be friends with Chelsea Handler while in my twenties, but prefer to read about her from a distance now. This book is verification. Anecdote after anecdote of lies and deceptions, although funny, make me think she would have made me cry, given me ulcers, and who knows what else. Reading the stories though: pretty funny.

Some of the people obviously had help with the writing and that's more or less acknowledged, but it's for the better. Chelsea sounds like a loving and giving friend who delights in torturing people. Some of her pranks really ARE mean, but it sounds like she takes people on vacations to exotic locations, and so that might help compensate. :)

Light and entertaining. A good reader when you don't want to think too hard and would prefer to read the Machiavellian scheming of a diabolical mind.
