This design book is an unprecedented domestic history of the emergence of the pantry in American homes over the past 300 years.

Catherine Seiberling Pond dedicates The Pantry to her father, James Henry Seiberling, and grandfather, James Penfield Seiberling. How appropriate, since pantries are all about family and tradition, along with security and abundance: our family won’t go hungry so long as the pantry is well stocked. This is one of the few sources of useful information about pantry uses and styles through the years. We used it for ideas in renovating our Victorian era walk-in pantry. One modern idea I would add is that if you have a window in your pantry and decide to put in the study and time to make your pantry truly useful and beautiful as guided by this book, put glass panels in your inside door to enjoy the additional light and see the fruits of your labor!

Wonderful book.

I liked this book - it had a good history of the American pantry. It was pretty short, however, and I would liked to have seen more practical and applicable information in it.

John 3:16-17 (KJV)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Pray to be forgiven of your sins today.
I can't add anything that hasn't been written below, but I wanted to leave a positive review for the author's sake. I love all things domestic and the more vintage the better. I love the picture on the back cover of this book-ah...my dream kitchen. If I could have a hoosier cabinet like this one someday, I would die happy, lol.
