This "handbook" is a compendium of mostly filler, basic, and useless information. Bloated with history, background, and abstract information on subjects related to construction, most of this book has nothing to do with rigging. Not recommended for anybody in the construction industry with any experience.

One of the best comprehensive construction site books I have read - and I have read a lot! The title is misleading - so much more than Rigging is included. If you are looking for a good all around resource - I recommend this one.

Everything you wanted to know about rigging but were afraid to ask! Well written with helpful illustrations. I would recommend before anyone tries to sling a truss or long beam on their own. There is no substitute for education of safe practices.
Mayno
Nice book!

The book is somewhat hard to find, but it was in excellent condition and has been a terrific addition to our Rigging Library. I highly recommend it.
Arcanefire
Great reference source

This book is a nice review of existing hoisting technology, but anyone with a structural engineering education will prefer a more technical and thorough approach. Would like to see more information on wire rope types, wire rope inspection, rope stretching and creep, and cable analysis.
Sure you can use a crane without a 700+ page book, but this is the go-to reference for professional rigging work. It's well organized, well written, and authoritative. There are a lot of changes over the last decade in common practices and it's all here in this book.
