Sinclair. The book offers the same convenience found in Sinclair's Moods in Wire : An Extended Guide to the Fine Art of Wirewrapping (2nd Ed) but with less variety and mostly simpler projects. This book is not for everyone. It offers little eye candy. Color photos are limited to the front cover and section headings. Projects use line art to illustrate (helpful but not lovely). Don't get this as a primary wire wrapping resource.

This book is an excellent instrutional guide for a great variety of jewelry projects, for beginner to advanced wire workers. The projects run the gamut from classic styles to a spider pin and wrapping sharks' teeth.

I like that it begins with the simple projects and progresses through to more advanced projects. I have found the well drawn computer illustrations to be adequate. There are lots of diagrams illustrating how things should be done and the order that they should be done. What is especially helpful is that some illustrations use solid lines to show what's happening on the front of the project and broken (dash) lines to show what's happening in back. Photos couldn't do that. I am amused by Mr. Sinclairs cautionary remarks but I heed them because they are typed in bold. An example: "DO NOT CUT OFF EXCESS WRAP WIRE YET." The spiral binding makes the book lie flat on the page that I'm using. It could be improved if a photo of each project would be on the page with the instructions.
JUST DO IT
The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is it's black-n-white.

I have been working with wire for three years now, and consider my skill as intermediate. I have read all the books I can find in bookstores that teaches anything about beaded and wire jewelry. I learned all the techniques just by reading these books once, and therefore never owned any of them myself. I started selling wired jewelry two months ago and started to feel the need to advance my wire working technique. I browsed through google search and found this book. Then I read the reviews on Amazon, and decided to buy it. It was as I expected -- only one colored picture, but the instructions were great! This is the only black-n-white instruction book that I found clear and inspiring. True, for $10 or $20 more you could probably get a instruction DVD, but if you don't want to spend that much (just like me), then this book is for you. It does not give you the pleasure of great photography, but isn't it more fun to produce your own work than appreciating others'? For the number and variety of projects in this book, I'll keep it even if it's black-n-white. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. (p.s. You probably need to have had some basic skills on wire working to get the most out of this book)
FEISKO
This book really shows a lot of good techniques and covers SO much information on wire wrapping. A must have for the wire worker.

Why not 5-stars? Where the heck are the photos? There is an inset with a photo of many (not all) of the projects, but there are no photos of detail. This photo page is not organized according to project, so you will need to look around a bit to find the image you are looking for (if it is there, at all.)

The important info is still there; afterall, I didn't buy this book as a coffee-table book. The diagrams are great for instructional steps, but I think most people feel more comfortable being able to see close ups of the completed project. Even so, I would recommend this book for any wire-worker's library.

I bought this for my daughter (16yrs) who is starting her own jewelry making business. She took a class and this book was recommended by the instructor. She was right as it has great ideas and illustrations ...

Good book for beginners

Loved this book.
Cookbook? Well, yes, that's how its laid out. It has a few color photographs of all the projects and then pages and pages of line drawings and expanations of exactly how to do each project. If you are into wire wrapping and want lots of basic information in one place, this seems like a good book, but I found it somewhat uninspiring. I have seen so much wire wrapped work that it all looks the same and I wanted to see something classy and exciting.
