I first learned of Cheryl Brunette after I stumbled upon her Youtube channel. I watched several videos and was impressed by her willingness and ability to explain things so thoroughly. Two videos that were particularly eye opening for me were 'Adjust a Sweater Pattern to Fit Your Gauge' and 'How to Improve Your Long Tail Cast-On'. She makes use of the book in a few of her videos and I could see several schematics inside. So I decided to order the book and am happy I did. The book offers a different methodology for knitting from a pattern, a more visual and intuitive format that is also tailored to your own gauge, instead of tirelessly trying to match that of the pattern. Adapting a pattern to this format also exposes errors, or just little problems that annoy us, so we can fix it before we begin to knit. This has changed the way I look at knitting and never again will I be knitting blindly from a commercial pattern. Thank You Cheryl!

I have picked this book up to design a sweater many times. I wish I had been able to look at it before buying it. Its reviews were good, but I do not find it easy to use at all. There was one equation that was provided - don't remember for what, but I am an engineer and I am very good at math. For the life of me I couldn't figure it out. I have no clue what information the equation provided and it made absolutely no mathematical sense whatsoever. I found Ann Budd's "The Knitter's Handy Book of Sweater Patterns" much more practical and much easier to use.

Great book, the instructions for increasing and decreasing when making a sleeve or for the body of a sweater are simple and easy to follow and apply. It such a handy simple formula to use, I love it.
The charts for approximate sizing are handy when I am making a sweater for a family member who lives many hours away from me. And it gives me a way to adapt many published patterns for a more tailored look for myself. I travel often and can not always find a yarn shop with someone to help me adjust a sweater pattern. I so liked the instructions for how to measure myself for the back, sleeves and shoulders, and after having someone help me do those measurements I feeling independent and able to make patterm adjustments that have turned out well. I knit basic fitted sweaters, but I am much more able to make adjustments like arm length and shoulder to neck length without guessing and ripping back anymore. Thank you for republishing this book.

I just made my first bottom-up sweater on round needles from YouTube videos (not Cheryl Brunette videos). Have not knitted for many, many years. It worked out just fine and I wanted to learn a different method via Sweater 101. I've shared the book with an expert knitter friend and she says, 'Wondered how long it would take for someone to present in this way!' She has borrowed my book for a month 'til our next needlework group meets. I have yarn waiting to follow Sweater 101 for a turtleneck sweater and looking forward to it! Cheyl Brunette's videos on YouTube are very complimentary! This book is an excellent purchase....stimulating for the brain, logically and mathematically presented so knitting a sweater is less confusing and seems so easy.....

This book is a classic. Cheryl Brunette did a great job writing it. Most beginning knitters find it challenging when it comes to sweater design. Well fear no more because this book makes it easy. When you read through this book, it feels like she is right there with you explaining each step to you and nothing beats that. Every area of sweater design is covered in this book, it even has standard schematic measurements from a 6month baby to adult male size 50.If you are interested in learning to make your own sweater this is the book for you.Plus my book was autographed by Cheryl Brunette herself, how cool is that.
Bought this book first as an ebook. This is how I first learned how to make a sweater! Decided that I wanted the hard copy for my library.
