Had there been a Look Inside feature for this book, I wouldn't have purchased it, as the look of the finished projects, is too primitive for me. That said, I can see how those who love this look would be thrilled with this book. Bonanomi has crammed this book full of practical and decorative projects overflowing with whimsy in her primitive aesthetic. You'll find bed quilts, pillows, runners, wall hangings, sewing accessories, slippers, a jacket, jacket pins, and hooked rugs to keep you busy.

Comfort Zone is chock full of instructions in how to achieve this primitive look by adding age/distressing to these projects using Rit Dye and adding rips and fraying here and there. The supplies needed to make these projects are few and easy to find: needles, scissors, pins, thread, freezer paper, quilting ruler, and a rotary cutting mat. Many of the projects would be great for using up materials from our stash/scraps of bits of wool and other embellishments like ribbon, trims, buttons, etc.

All the projects in this book assume a knowledge of the techniques involved in producing the finished product: sewing, applique, rug hooking, etc. The templates for the applique are full-size, so no enlarging is necessary. Take a look at the photos of the projects and see if they appeal to you.

Happy stitching!

I love working with wool, rug hooking and quilting, among other fiber arts. Ms. Bonanomi's books not only give me great projects but spark ideas of my own. The bed quilt is what had me buying the book, the rest of the lovely projects were a joy to find.

This book is a must for anyone who has an interest in wool applique. You could not purchase all these patterns for the price of the book. I now have two of Maggie's books and plan on adding them all to my library.

I love all of Maggie's books; have all of them now. If you love primitives and love to make beautiful things to compliment your prim decor, or want to make something for a prim lover, this is the book for you. Directions easy to follow and the projects are all within anyone's level of expertise. After all, primitive is not supposed to be perfect. Great book! I recommend all of them ...
If you enjoyed Maggie's first two books, you are going to LOVE this one! Five stars just are not enough. A couple of unexpected projects, and many pure Maggie projects and designs in her colors and style. It's definitely a gotta have.
