An older publication that only covers up through the 1995 model year. I purchased this book since I have both a 1959 G38 1-ton Apache Panel and a 1985 C-10 1/2-ton Silverado Pickup. A great reference if you want to know more about the production year of your vehicle. Will list the various models produced that year along with engines available, etc. and all Regular Production Order (RPO) codes (and cost) for various options available that year. Also the last 40 pages covers, Chevy truck milestones, pricing guide and other data of interest to both the collector/prospective buyer and enthusiast. Also, numerous B&W photographs give you a look at some of the various paint schemes available in a given year, as well as which items were chromed and which were painted (especially in older vehicles where chromed bumpers and front/rear treatments were not "automatic").

Though I have nothing from my 59's early history, I was able to authenticate via the RPO codes that the drive train (engine through rear end) is not original, while almost everything else still is. While all I had from the '85 C-10 were the RPO sheet (still intact inside the glove compartment door) I was able to document that the truck has undergone a quality partial repaint (to give it a two-tone look) in its past, but was otherwise original and up to standard for an '85 "Silverado."

I also found out from the section in the back of the book that my '85's approximate value is about $1800 based on its condition being between Good and Very Good condition (which make me happy since I was given the truck for the cost of driving it away, by a cousin who didn't want it - belonged to his dad & he's a "Ford Man"). I also found out from the Milestones section that the first Suburban debuted in 1935 (True - check it out on page 246).

This would seem to me to be a great candidate book for someone to revise and update from 1996 forward, but what do I know. If you're a Chevy Truck person, this one would be a good addition to your Chevy Library!

Overall, I'm disappointed. It lacks detailed model year specific information, I found numerous typos, a couple of errors. I expected the more recent models (80's on) to have much more detail and information. This book will basically help identify the year and model of a truck. Beyond that, its not of much help.

No matter what year make model of truck(s) you are looking at if your thinking Chevy youve come to the right place or should I say book. I found there products to be well illustrated and was left with the feeling of being informed and not of being had. I reccommend this catalogue to any ChevyG.M.C. heavy or light truck buyer. I hope this book is as help-full to you as it was to me.
