The book is profusely illustrated and the style is a sort of proto-Osprey and the pic on p136 alone, of Lt Cdr Sheppard using a bow and (fire) arrow prompted huge debates in my club in the early 80's! Matt.

For any casual student of our effort in Vietnam this book is the best unbiased history of the war that I have ever read. It is a series of articles on various aspect of the war by different authors, so the reader gets a range of views, and not one single opinion on the overall event. There are a lot of great illustrations and side-bars to explain details of the war in easy to understand formats. As a general reference on the war this is as good a study as you are going to find.

Arrived quickly. Haven't read it fully but from what I've seen looks like it'll be a good read. And a good price.

I gave this book to a friend of mine who is a Vietnam Vet. He said it was a really nice book. I only glanced at it quickly but it had good pictures, A time line showing what happened during certain years. If you shop or wait you can get this book at a very reasonable price. I think most people would like it.

Really thorough account of the Vietnam war. This is the type of book you could read 10 times and get something different out of it every time.

Its the complete source of information and data about this conflict in South East Asia. There is a detailed description about the weapons used on both sides of the conflict, their techniques and tactics. I am satisfied with this purchase and the book arrived on time.
Book incorporates general Westmoreland's perspectives on the war which is the standard U.S. Armed Forces history of that struggle. Good overview and well illustrated (from U.S. perspective) but weak on North Vietnamese perspective (i.e., strategy, leadership, equipment and especially morale).
