This book tells about the interesting history of Burlington, Vermont. This book has some of the following interesting information in it. The original town of Burlington, Vermont contained 36 square miles. Beginning in 1809, Lake Champlain was the first lake in the world with regularly scheduled steamboat service. Burlington in 1873 was the third largest lumber port in the country, behind Albany and Chicago. Lake Champlain ferries also transported military equipment during the Cold War. Grace Goodhue Coolidge was born at 315 St. Paul Street and married Calvin Coolidge at 312 Maple St.

My home town, splendid in photos and text. Shows why my family left and why I came back 55 years later. Excellent effort, well-researched and laid out.
