Seward's The Hundred Year's War is showing its age (it was first published in 1978), but for an introduction into one of the most influential conflicts in European history, it still holds up well. This is a very well done overview of the 100 years war. One strong point is the way the author lays out the reasons for the war and the complex political struggle for the French throne.

This gave fresh courage to my men,who were hard pressed and faint with their great exertion.

By convention it is said to have lasted from 1337 to 1453, but there had been periodic fighting since the 12th century. This confiscation, however, had been preceded by periodic fighting over the question of English fiefs in France going back to the 12th century.

Very happy with the condition of the book. My brother-in-law graduated from WSU where her played football as a quarterback in 1955-1959. He loved the book and remembered so many of the names. He went on to become a football coach for Bothell High.

One of my few hits as a gift with my Brother-in-law. Thank you.

The Crimson and the Gray is a must read!
This book was so informative. It was an easy read and very hard to put down. I recommend this book to any one, even if they are not a "cougar."

It would be great if Dick could re-publish an updated copy that would include the two Rose Bowl trips, three consecutive ten win seasons of football, (the era of years 1990 to present.) Pleasantly surprised to see that my former KWSU sportscasting statistician Bob Guptil contributed to the book. Dick helped so many of our careers when we were fledgling CUB reporters of Cougar sports.
