It can be useful if you a newbie, but this book doesn't tell much if you have been running for several years. Good advice in strength training though, and basic training plans for every distance (again, new if you are new in that distance). Throughout the book, Kara talks about her injuries. And I wonder, why didn't she or her coach change something in her training/shoes/whatever if she was getting so many injuries? I don't like that she recommends taking painkillers if you get injured.

I'm a fairly new runner and needed some sound advice so purchased this book. Wow, what a waste of time and money. There is little substance or helpful advice. For all of her experience she does not come across as knowing much.

Easy read and insightful. Kara has many many tips to share and her candor is appreciated. I would certainly recommend to any beginner who is looking to go the distance.

I really enjoyed this book and got a lot of it based on being a novice runner. Some key points I took away was learning that even professional runners have running issues such as injury and race anxiety too. I like how Kara shared her own personel stories of being a mother, wife and balance being a runner. Also the book goes over nutrition, types of injuries you may encounter, the importance of crosstraining, and being a pregnant mother.

great book! Kara is the BOMB
Great book! Common sense down to earth info and advice esp. for new runners. Kara has a very "zen" like approach to running. There is no doubt that she is a competitor, but she also seems to know that you need to look at the big picture and think about your running and fitness for a lifetime. Info on injury prevention and simple nutrition/training plans are included. If you are an experienced runner, this may not be the book for you, just because you probably have acquired much of this information through experience already....otherwise, I HIGHLY recommend it!!
