Adam Smith, a nom d'plume, is an economist who took the name of the noted historical economist, and reached out .

After my own explorations led me to think that I should write a book, I was given "Powers of Mind" and realized the "book" has already been well written, in 1975! Its insights and conclusions remain contemporary. If you want to discover and use more than the limit of 10% of your mind/brain.

I first read this work in 1977, at a time when my interests in holistic healing were developing. I recently decided to buy the book and read through the material again to see how my opinions had evolved in the 30-or-so years since I had owned the original paperback. I'm still impressed by the ideas that language and past experience influence perception, and how meditation can improve health (a well-accepted notion in today's society). The terminologies of "left-brain" and "right-brain" are firmly cemented in our lexicon, even though they may be an over-simplification of how the brain works. Overall, I still find the material presented to be stimulating. I always found the book to be an easy read that presents a number of relate-able concepts about consciousness.

I read this many years. Adam Smith really captured alteranative lifestyles with this. Made an impression. on me that lasted over 30.

Whenever I would put the book down, I was already looking forward to picking it back up.

ADAM SMITH (PSEUDONYM) DOES WHAT FEW WRITERS ON NEW AGE TOPICS DO. HE HAD THE TIME, AND TOOK IT, TO ACTUALLY PARTICIPATE IN THESE PROCESSES. HIS WRITING STYLE IS EXCELLENT, WITH NONE OF THE SPECIAL, ESOTERIC-SOUNDING, LANGUAGE YOU GET FROM MANY AUTHORS ON SUCH TOPICS. HIS CHAPTER "ZEN AND THE CROSS COURT BACKHAND" IS PARTICULARLY GOOD. HIS SELF-DEPRECATING HUMOR IS CHARMING AND MAKES HIS CONCLUSIONS HAVE THE RING OF AUTHENTICITY AND COMMON SENSE.

I already knew what I had from a previous edition which got away from me. And then there was a hard cover where my previous issue was a paperback.
