Paul Pearsall (1942-2007) was an American neuropsychologist and author. Pearsall was a 1963 graduate of the University of Michigan. His postgraduate degrees were earned at Wayne State University: a Masters Degree in Educational and Clinical Psychology in 1965, and PhD in Clinical and Educational Psychology in 1968. His postdoctoral work included studies at United States Army War College, and the Arizona, Harvard and Albert Einstein Schools of Medicine.

This is one of my all time favorite books. Dr. Pearsall explained very well, the connection between science and spirituality. When a friend died, it was the only thing that helped temper my grief.

I had Dr. Pearsall as a professor when I was in college and my father had as a student at Henry Ford College. I enjoyed his book as much as I did his lectures many years ago. He was a brilliant man and I was fortunate to have known him.

i love this book. i read it many years ago and it is still one of my favorite books. i have bought numerous copies to give away. i was so sad when it went out of print, but kept buying copies from used book stores, but now i have recently purchased paul pearsall's new edition of this book, maui miracle.

i would recommend this book for anyone facing a challange in life, especially someone facing a serious illness, or their loved ones. it is inspiring and uplifting and full of hope, but it is not like so many motivational books you read, it is not just a bunch of tired cliches and rah rah cheers. many of the spiritual concepts are presented in a scientific way and visa versa. it taught me that science and spirituality or religion do not conflict with each other...miracles are not necessarily contrary to the laws of science.

my favorite part, when i first read the book, was about scientific studies on prayer, and the results make it easy to overcome nagging doubts one might experience as a result of adversity.

i also liked the discussions on coincidence and hope.

but i could write a review as long as the book itself because i really liked every part of the book. i learned a lot. it helped me understand some scientific principles i had not quite grasped at the time i read it long ago. it made me eager to read more about several other subjects. it deepened my faith. it added dimension to my belief system. as i applied what i learned, i became happier and less worried about the future.

this book was an important part of my growth as a person, i have enthusiastically recommended it so many times, and most of the people who also read it liked it as much as i did. it might conflict with belief systems of persons on each extreme of the spirituality spectrum, but it would be a good way to stretch one's mind and provides plausable challanges to those extreme positions. i wish everyone would read it and think about it.

i will end this review like i started it. i loved this book...and i love this book.

Has to be the right book.Concerns the Spindrift studies.three groups of seed are immersed in salt water.The group with highest survival were prayed for with "Thy will be done" prayer.Conclusion was it is effective.Now,can I use this to win lottery or heal all the psychos?

The 1991 review is harsh and unfair to say nothing of patronizingly ignorant! Many people today not only know about some of the principles of new physics, but are searching for ways to utilize these principles in business, relationships and health. In spite of the opinion of the reviewer, Paul Pearsall DID experience something unexplainable and he tries to make sense of it in a way that is ahead of his time in '91. I found much of what the author suggested to be of interest and comfort as I search to understand reality and my role in creating it. This book is a song of hope and love. And I'm glad to see Paul Pearsall continues his excellent work.
