I live in Western NY. I have fear driving on the snow covered and icy roads. Since I have no choice, I tried to find ways to help my confidence in driving. This CD REALLY helped me. The section on breathing is especially helpful in calming me and making me aware of how tense my grip is on the steering wheel, and my posture, etc. I could feel myself relax and handle the fear. I approach the drive with calm rather than anxiety. This cd is priceless.
It's ok. I bought this to help me not be such an angry driver because of other people driving like morons. I don't really feel that it helped me even though I gave it a good try. It just wasn't for me; I got bored of listening to the same message over and over again.
Surprisingly helpful tool which brings the user (driver) back to where they need to be - with and inside themselves. Helps me stay grounded and centered and peaceful.
I am a long time meditator and student of meditation techniques and I'm impressed with this CD. I found it to have the essential parts of good meditation practice, packaged specifically for the motorist /commuter. Clear instruction/guided meditations, with very little fluff, that you can practice while driving. I spend 3 hours a day commuting, in heavy traffic, to and from work and noticed the difference inn the first day. I definitely recommend it to anyone that routinely spends time in traffic or otherwise just finds driving stressful!
I bought this audio book based on the 5 star reviews. After listening to it, I don't think it's worth two stars. I came back here and notice that all past reviews curiously happened in January of 2015. In terms of production quality, you'll find better on Youtube. In fact, there is nothing in this book on tape that you can't for free on Youtube in terms of relaxation techniques. The audio is 50-odd minutes long, counting all the pauses for you to practice the techniques (e.g. "Now, do this breathing exercise for two minutes." and "Focus on all the sounds around you for two minutes."). Maybe it had the life altering effects that other reviewers say, maybe it didn't. All I'm saying is that the content is the same found for free elsewhere and that with a few modifications (don't tell yourself to lay still or close your eyes) you could record your own guided relaxation/mindfulness tape at the same quality level as this.
The meditations have helped make a daily commute in the SF Bay Area manageable .Worth the time and $ to purchase this valuable commuter CD. Helps one to stay focused on driving rather than be distracted by other thoughts and activities.
