They are fine stories with creative and compelling plots, often amusing dialog and interesting characters. You are, however, starting to piss me off. A Darkling Plain is the longest of the Hungry City books, by a fairly large margin. But there is, after all, a lot going on here. There's hardly any padding, so it earns it's 500+ pages honestly. Thinking about the book, I suspect that I wouldn't have liked it so much, or been so glued to it, if I hadn't already been deeply invested in these characters from previous books. Tom and Hester especially, who see their story draw to what is probably its unavoidable close.

I loved the ending, the way that the author keeps you in the dark about how things are going to work out to the very, very end, and how all the characters are true to the author's character development throughout the books. This story capped a wonderful series full of original ideas and imagination.
Wel
It’s rare to find good writing and a great imagination in today’s massive self publishing world, but this series of four books, meets and exceeds the reader’s expectations.
Gold Crown
The big picture, the real comparison between this truly imaginative world and our changing environment. Great story-telling, memorable characters, humor and pathos all rolled together. Just hope the movie stays true to the books.
Bele
Read all four books. Best series yet. Highly recommend. Getting ready to download the prequel. Good books for zoning out.
Jugami
This was the perfect way to end the trilogy. I couldn't have been happier with the resolution. Every bit as good as the first two books.
Worla
I bought books 1-4 for my daughter for her birthday. The books arrived in a timely manner with no damage.
I love Mercedes
The story on the series is absolutely amazing and kept me wanting more. The problem is the writing is only ok, hopefully the author improves as his imagination is first rate
Well, considering that it was the last book in the series, it did well. I was bit shocked by the ending, where the two main characters die, but other than that, it was great.
