Written by Catherine Jinks, narrated by Melissa Chambers. In the third Allie's Ghost Hunters adventure, 11-year-old Allie Gebhardt and her Exorcists' Club hold a séance for schoolmate Bettina - and discover, in the process, that there's a strange presence in Bettina's house. Allie, sleuth for the supernatural, returns with another mystery. Her classmate Bettina wants to speak with the ghost in her house, but when Allie and her ghost-hunter friends investigate, the case takes an unexpected direction.

Australian actress Melissa Chambers transports listeners "down under" in Case Four of Allie's Ghost Hunters. Twelve-year-old Allie is hoping to see ghosts during her family's weekend trip to the Jenolan Caves Ghost Tour. Unfortunately, the promising holiday is disrupted by the arrival of Allie's long-absent father, who is eager to be more involved in her life. While secondary characters are not so distinctive or vibrant, Chambers's portrayal of Allie as excited and hopeful is spot-on. She delivers this lighthearted, fast-paced story without neglecting Allie's growing frustration with her quarrelsome parents.

The Jenolan Caves Ghost Tour sounded like the perfect weekend for a ghost hunter

After Allie's last experience with a ghost, she thought she was finally free of phantoms in her life-but that was before she went on a school trip to Hill End and found herself investigating several more of them. First there is the ghost of Granny Evans, pacing around the museum. Then she comes upon Eustace Harrow, possibly the ghost of a baby long dead, smashing things up in Taylor's cottage. The Jenolan Caves Ghost Tour sounded like the perfect weekend for a ghost hunter. But I didn't realize I was letting myself in for a whole lot more than just a haunted hotel and endless family squabbles. Something was our trail.

That's what ghost hunters are for, right? If only I'd known what the seance would wake u. ull of suspense, mystery and humour, the books in this series follow Allie as she investigates a number of possibly paranormal events with a mix of logic, intelligence and teenage attitude. The Sunday Tasmanian (on Eglantine)'With great, unexpected twists in the story. This is a very addictive book, and I recommend it to anyone who wants an original mystery story.
