I was initially disappointed with My First Bedtime Bible. I didn't like how it appeared to re-arrange the story of creation. There are obvious ommissions in the stories, but since this book is for very young children, the ommissions may be appropriate. I have revised the written portion of this review and changed the numeric rating to a four. The pictures are lively and would appeal to small children.

I still have to question why a publishing company would print a Bible story book under the imprint "Make Believe Ideas."

I have looked at many Bibles for young children in my time, and although this one isn't perfect, it is the best one so far. What I like most about it is that on each double page there is a little 'cut out' with a prayer (or very occasionally, something to do instead). The prayer is a helpful application of the passage, which could be talked about first - ideal for parents who may not know how to do that, and a good habit to get into in any Bible reading.
As to the content, I always look at how such a book treats the fall and the crucifixion as a way of assessing it. This one passes with flying colours! Which brings me on to the illustrations: they have been done by a number of different artists, and I like some of them more than others - but presumably my taste is not universal.
Main objection: the imprint is 'Make Believe Ideas'!!
