The Prince & the Lute book. Although I can't say that I found Baumann's narrative, with its echoes of The Prince and the Pauper, particularly compelling, I did like the fact that he highlighted the reality that the tasks for which we are fit have little to do with family background or inherited social standing. The prince, who is accustomed to luxury and leisure, is faced with the realities of poverty and privation. I have re-read it many, many times, most recently to two of my children (who also enjoyed it), and it continues to be rich and engaging.
