I began reading these books in the 1970's and still dig them out every once in a while. Trixie and her friends, the Bob Whites are always getting into some kind of mischief, but they also help people in the process. A great, clean read that keeps you in suspense. Mostly written for girls, but boys might enjoy them too.

It's the first day of summer, and Trixie is looking forward to fun and maybe a mystery or two. But the mystery starts earlier than expected when she and her friends head to a neighbor's house to make a delivery. They show up in time to keep a stranger from burning down Mrs. Elliot's shed. Over the next few weeks, Social Security checks are stolen and a water pump stops working. Who is behind these attacks? And why?

This is the point in the series where the official tainted timeline starts since the last book was the beginning of autumn. Leaving that aside, this is a fun mystery. I know the first time I read through it, I wasn't sure how they'd solve all the problems by the end of the book. But things come together in a logical way.

The characters are mostly true to themselves. Dan is the biggest one who behaves in strange ways here. Di is just around in some group scenes and doesn't contribute much either. The new characters are interesting and developed enough to make us care about the outcome.

And there's some summer fun as the mystery develops. I love scenes of the Bob-Whites having fun together, and this book has a few.

All told, this is a decent entry, especially for the second half of the series.

Yes, this book is old, but its really good! Its got lots of adventure and mystery in it :) Hopefully the towns cop in the book does not stop them from solving the mysteries! Trixie and her friends really are funny in some parts. I liked this one because it has sneaking out at night parts, and corn mazes and plants and horses! My copy was actually made 37 years ago! lol hehe read them! :P Recommended!!!
