Corgi Capers 1: Deceit on Dorset Drive is a middle-grade mystery novel targeting readers aged 8 – 12. It’s a fun read packed with humor and suspense, and independent readers will enjoy it just as much as parents reading it to their children. There’s a serial thief robbing every house in the neighborhood, including the Hollingers’. As the plot deepens and the suspense builds, Adam and the rambunctious corgi pups are determined to crack the case. Even Courtney can’t resist getting involved.

Corgi Capers: Deceit on Dorset Drive is the first in my kidlit mystery series based on my two Pembroke Welsh Corgis.

In the novel, a series of neighborhood burglaries has left police stumped. It’s up to fifth-grader Adam Hollinger and his new corgi puppy to help solve the crime.

But things get crazy when the Hollingers adopt two corgi puppies and the team's star pitcher breaks his arm.

Fifth-grader Adam Hollinger looked forward to an ordinary summer: All-Star baseball practice, reading comic books, begging his parents for a dog, and avoiding his mischievous older sister. But things get crazy when the Hollingers adopt two corgi puppies and the team's star pitcher breaks his arm. Even worse, a serial burglar has been targeting the neighborhood, and the Hollingers' house is on the list.

I loved the personalities of Zephyr and Sapphie, how they spoke to each other, helped the mystery plot, and brought Courtney and Adam together as much as teens can do during their growing-up phase.I highly recommend this story to all students in elementary school. If you aren't a dog lover now, you will be after reading this series.

This is a good book for possibly fourth graders plus. The hero is a rising fifth grader with an older sister who enjoys making his life miserable, so readers can relate. This is a wholesome family book and it's very interesting. The reader gets drawn into the story. I think the best parts of the book were those told from the dogs' perspectives. Enjoyable reading for kids without the sarcasm, dark and depressing themes of many of today's kids' books.

This little story was very nice. It captured the cuteness and fun of the Corgi breed. The story
was well written and fun to read, and provided an entertaining evening for me. The mystery was fun to work out with the likeable protagonist.
Treat yourself to a little Corgi entertainment with this book.
