It's the day before Halloween, and to every teacher's dismay, school has been overrun by princesses and monsters, Jedi and ghouls. A group of girls sneak into the bathroom to exchange tiaras, and grotesquely dressed fifth-graders pretend to eat two younger students in the cafeteria.

Halloween and the traditional school festivities that accompany it are beloved by students and dreaded by teachers, and in Steven Layne and Ard Hoyt's newest picture book collaboration the decision to start the festivities a day early seems entirely appropriate to the students! While th. .

A middle school teacher with a 'hobby'. Halloween Cat I could have named it Halloween Cemetery as well. It has become somewhat of a tradition for. And what we have before us are the rich feasts that conscience cannot appreciate and mortal men cannot know without regret. What others are saying.

It's the day before Halloween, and goblins, princesses, and Jedi have taken over the school. Every classroom is out of control as fifth-grade monsters pretend to eat a group of younger students and princesses hide in the bathroom to compare costumes. The teachers are fighting to maintain control, but the pre-Halloween celebrations aren't the worst of it. On Halloween Day, there is the annual student parade where students dress up, and ghosts, ghouls, fairies, and pirates take over the school completely. It's mayhem across the school this year, and the teachers are in for the biggest trick-or-treat of their careers.

If you have ever taught you know what it is like around Halloween in schools. This book captures wonderfully the craziness of the season and the more tricks than treats that teachers usually get during this time of year. The book was wonderfully written, with flowing rhymes and imagery that simply jumps off the page. I particularly loved the fact that all of the teacher (even though they were exhausted) went through the trouble of making very intricate costumes for the kids, thus continuing to show their dedication to heir jobs and the kids, even during the most trying times!

This is a fun book to use in a teacher in-service during a busy time of year. Kids will also enjoy it. Great addtion to Teacher's Nightmare before Christmas.
