Going through this book, it was so surprising how many of these I had forgotten. I loved rediscovering them and can't wait until my LO is old enough to hear them, although it is shocking how grotesque some of the rhymes are now hearing them as an adult, e.g. three blind mice- cut off a tail with a carving knife; heavens! Nice size, and the paper cover was copied in the handbook underneath. I hate those paper covers, get lost or torn and I was able to throw this one away without detracting from the reason I bought it in the first place! Also no overlap with the Nursery and Fairy Tales collection.

Here are all my favorites, the ones I memorized and learned to read as a child. The illustrations are excellent. I chose this version as opposed to another to give to a grandchild because of the nursery rhyme about the old woman who lived in a shoe. In the traditional version, she had so many children she didn't know what to do, so she gave them some broth without any bread, whipped them all soundly and sent them to bed. This one says she kissed them all soundly and sent them to bed!

I grew up on these verses (as well as the stories in Mary Englebreit's "Nursery Tales" book) and wanted my daughter to enjoy them as well. However, I was saddened to find that these timeless classics are hard to come by anymore. My daughter is 18 months old and adores these books. I was worried at first about buying a book with paper pages but she hasn't torn a single page -- she's too busy enjoying the illustrations. There are so many verses that we never make it all the way through the book in one night but circle through the books over and over throughout the week; she never tires of the verses. They're just so much fun to read and the illustrations cannot be beat -- the colors are so vibrant, the images match the verses perfectly and my daughter loves to stare at the pictures as we read. The price for this book makes it an absolute STEAL. I have decided that from now on when I know someone is having a baby, I will purchase these books as a shower gift for them because they're such high quality that they're truly keepsakes. My mom was a kindergarten teacher for nearly 30 years and she laments the loss of these old verses and Nursery tales that teach so much about morals and inspire expanded vocabularies by making words fun. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this book and the Nursery Tales book by Mary Englebreit.

This book has the most lovely illustrations. It has the cute little nursery rhymes. My kids love it. This is their most loved nursery rhyme book. So cute.

In love with this book of nursery rhymes and the beautiful artwork on every page. It's perfect for a baby shower, a new mommy or grandmother, a birthday, or holiday gift-giving. It is exquisite to look at while reading some of the most memorable nursery rhymes from childhood. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone.

I've lost track of how many of these books I've ordered. I think I buy them in bulk now. I feel it's important for kids to learn nursery rhymes, or they miss out on a lot of references in daily language. I give these out as gifts for moms with new babies. Kudos to Mary Engelbreit for her fun illustrations as well.

My baby's favorite book. The illustrations are very beautiful. We've read this book million times. She already can finish many rhymes. I also like that the illustrations reflect the content of the verses very well. It could make a very nice gift too.
I purchased this ME book for my grand daughter. She will receive it at Christmas when she is 2 1/2 years old. She loves books. She will live the colorful pictures that accompany the nursery rhymes. Very nice!
