This book, Strictly Private, an Anthology of poetry is one i first read at age 11. It was an amazing book that i would permanently return and reborrow from the libraray. Some may be simple but the love poems are ones which i find will stay with me forever

McGough has twice received the Signal Poetry Award for an outstanding work in children’s poetry: for Sky in the Pie (1983) and for Bad, Bad Cats (1997). He currently hosts the UK radio program Poetry Please. He and his wife live in London.
Roger Joseph McGough CBE (born 9 November 1937) is a well-known English performance poet. He presents the BBC Radio 4 programme Poetry Please and records voice-overs for commercials, as well as performing his own poetry regularly. He is a Fellow of Liverpool John Moores University and is a Vice President of the Poetry Society. McGough was born in Litherland, Liverpool

Roger McGough was born in Liverpool and educated at the University of Hull. He came to prominence in the 1960s with the publication of THE MERSEY SOUND, and is one of today's most popular poets. He writes for children and adults and performs his poetry all over the world. He presents Poetry Please on Radio 4 and is President of the Poetry Society. He was honoured with the Freedom of the City of Liverpool in 2001 and with a CBE in 2005 for services to literature.
