The original was a Japanese photography book and the pictures were wonderful. The illustrations in this book is not as good, and not so clear what the teddy bear is actually doing to go along with the rhyme. I know my wiggle-worm granddaughter would stay still if the pictures of the teddy bear acting out the rhyme were more life like.

A teddy bear is a stuffed toy in the form of a bear. Developed apparently simultaneously by toymakers Morris Michtom in the . and Richard Steiff in Germany in the early years of the 20th century, and named after President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, the teddy bear became an iconic children's toy, celebrated in story, song, and film. Goldilocks goes to sleep in the bears' home after watching six teddy bears dance and do acrobatics, viewing them through a knothole in the wall. When she is awoken by the returning bear family, they give chase through the woods, but she runs to the aid of the Old Rough Rider, who saves her. Written by scgary66. Plot Summary Plot Synopsis.

This is a book I used when I taught kindergarten. I wish it were still in print as I had to buy a used copy for a friend's granddaughter. The illustrations are engaging, and I love the rhyme that can be acted out. It's best for babies and toddlers.

Every time I see my granddaughter, she requests that I read the book while she "performs" it :) She wants to do it over and over, until I give out. Too cute. There are 8 simple exercises..point toes, turn around, touch ground, march (their example is going up stairs), pump arms up & down (is when they ask you to turn off the light), say your prayers, and then good night. Kind of like Simon says, very cute, very sweet, great pics

Adorable picture book with added movements to act out the rhyme. Can’t wait to use it in my classroom!

Great for movement exercise for very small children.

I bought this book for my granddaughter because the Teddy Bear rhyme was my son's favorite book. So this gets 4 instead of 5.

My grandson loves the way Hague has illustrated this classic poem. We read it over and over. There are so many things to point out on each page. The colors are bright. The bears are cute and cuddly. This is a favorite book.

I included this book in a collection of bear themed books I gave my niece for her baby shower. It has Michael Hague's wonderful illustrations and a cute little rhyme with easy to follow suggested actions to teach your child...hope I get a chance to see my niece's little one reciting it one day.
Great illustrations fun theme. Very enjoyable. We can read this one over and over again. My two year old loves his picture too!
