Surely, I could just be jealous because this book takes my idea (young adult novel about study abroad) and runs with it, but the whole point of me reading it is that I’m allowed to pick it apart. I have to learn what not to do, you know? And boy, did I. While I envy the way the author bites into her story and injects her character with more energy than all three of mine combined, I still think there’s something to be said for not being a hack writer.

Emily is forced to go live in a small hamlet in England when her father gets a job there. This story is written in emails from Emily to her best friend Dru in Seattle. It is a humorous story of an American teenager trying to adjust to life in England. It is written for teens, but I am a big fan of the author and had to read it. Emily has many hilarious experiences (a haunted underwear drawer, the Halloween dance, her teachers, boys, the different culture – you get the picture). I really enjoyed reading this and am looking forward to reading all of the other Emily stories too.

Maybe you won't believe me, but I'm not kidding. This book LITERALLY makes you laugh out loud! I have never laughed out loud from reading a book except this one!
First of all, i picke up this book from my library because my mom LOVES to go there and spend hours browsing the boring self esteem section. Of course, since I'm the youngest out of all my sisters, I have to go with her. I was looking through the young adult section and picked this one out randomly. I began reading the beginning and trie not to laugh at some of the character's comment. Unfortunately, trying not to laugh made my mouth make this weird noise. Since the library's quiet, people around me kind of turned to stare at me.
When we were about to leave, i checked the book out. My mom kind of looked at me funny because she knows i prefer internet and tv rather than reading.
When we got home, i left it in the bed and forgot about it. But since i couldn't sleep that night, i decided to read a little. well a little turned into the whole book. the book was so funny and interesting! i was upset that it had ended. when i visited the author's website, i discovered that ther was more books about Emily. Now, here i am, waiting for my books to come. I CANT WAIT TO READ THE REST OF THE SERIES!!
