I presume even for an Armenian from Armenia this book would be a treasure. Through this book, Lucine Kasbarian offers all readers a wonderful introduction to the people, land, history and culture of Armenia.

I presume even for an Armenian from Armenia this book would be a treasure. For a Diaspora Armenian it is also a refresher course and more. For the novice, it is an eye opener in introducing an ancient country and its people so rich and colorful and yet hitherto known only in fragments. a must have for every family's bookshelf!!! -Nvair K. Lucine Kasbarian’s book is a welcome addition to the Discovering Our Heritage book series – which .

Lucine Kasbarian’s book is a welcome addition to the Discovering Our Heritage book series – which is helping to foster understanding and appreciations of the traditions, customs and national character of the many nations comprising our world, and that by extension, will provide Americans with a greater appreciation of the various ethnic peoples of our expanding, enduring nation. Kasbarian’s compact and copious Armenia: A Rugged Land, an Enduring People is a benchmark in an ongoing and I dare say inexorable cultural mission: to bring the tragic and heroic story of the Armenian people to the world at large.

An introduction to the geography, history, people, government, and culture of Armenia with emphasis on the challenges facing this newly independent nation.

Lucine Kasbarian (Goodreads Author). ARMENIA: A Rugged Land, an Enduring People offers a comprehensive introduction to the land, history and culture of the Armenian people in a condensed, easy-to-read format designed for both children and adults. From its title, Armenia : A Rugged Land, an Enduring People, written on the cover, the latter also made to endure and for good cause; this book reveals Armenia deeply yet with clarity and lightness.

The books were donated by Lucine Kasbarian, author of Armenia: A Rugged Land, an Enduring People. Flags from every other country were displayed in our library and we wanted to be included, especially this year with the anniversary, said junior Ani Minasian. Afghanistan was represented. It could have been an oversight, but not anymore. Brendan Gibson, a social studies teacher, regularly engages his students on genocide history and awareness.

Armenian author and book publicist Lucine Kasbarian reflects on her experience explaining her culture to others .

Armenian author and book publicist Lucine Kasbarian reflects on her experience explaining her culture to others, through writing, publishing, and book fairs. This year, two books I authored – Armenia: A Rugged Land, an Enduring People and The Greedy Sparrow: An Armenian Tale – were showcased at a stand dubbed the Armenian Pavilion at the London Book Fair (LBF). Why the need for a stand exclusively devoted to Armenian subject matter. As a result of widespread massacre and outright genocide in the 19th and 20th centuries, Armenians driven from their homeland had to start their lives anew.

I strongly recommend this book for schools and libraries because of its intrinsic value as a clear-cut, honest, impartial introduction to a newly independent country. If definitely fills a need; there is no other work of this kind. I appreciated the work and thought put into ARMENIA: A Rugged Land, An Enduring People, and even found it to be an inspiration for me. Timely and appropriate.

I presume even for an Armenian from Armenia this book would be a treasure. For a Diaspora Armenian it is also a refresher course and more. For the novice, it is an eye opener in introducing an ancient country and its people so rich and colorful and yet hitherto known only in fragments. From its title, Armenia : A Rugged Land, an Enduring People, written on the cover, the latter also made to endure and for good cause; this book reveals Armenia deeply yet with clarity and lightness. Easy to read at a glance it also gives one the opportunity to delve into its myriad chapters according to one's interest. Subjects about the land's geography, culture, culinary arts (with recipes), traditions and sayings parade harmoniously and endear the reader to the land. It is a tourist guide and an abridged history book (both ancient and recent) in one. Illustrations, pictures and the excellent layout facilitate the discovery of the land's people as well as world celebrities with roots in Armenia . Archaeology, religion, the arts, legends and fast facts are all laid out in easy to find chapters. The author, Lucine Kasbarian, invites you to her "home" and you feel welcome from the first page. She has given the layman, the student, the tourist, the educator and the specialist a wonderful gift, very hard to find. She has done the hard work many were waiting for, now all you have to do is open the book and enjoy it.

I work in an industry with a sizable Armenian contingent, and wanted to learn more about the culture. Even though this is ostensibly for school kids, I found it to be a lively, energetic introduction through the history of Armenia, hitting on just about everything you can think of -- the food, culture and the country's sadly tragic history. The amount of research that went into it is impressive, but it's never dull and keeps your interest throughout. Recommended!

This is an excellent book both for the casual young reader and for use in the classroom. Ms. Kasbarian has managed to encapsulate Armenian history and culture in a way that is both informative and exciting while at the same time providing just the right level of detail.
Adults who need to get up on Armenia and its people quickly and painlessly will also find this book a godsend. The author is to be commended.
It's a good-looking book, too.
