Hidden Pictures Discovery Activity Zone (Ages 5-Up) by School Zone . This book of mazes is terrific.

School Zone grade-specific and skill-specific workbooks begin with the basics and advance. Strategic, teacher-designed content team up with playful illustrations that inspire kids and help them focus. My kids, 4 and 6, took turns working on this book over the summer and completed every single maze, sometimes doing them multiple times. The mazes have interesting graphics and layouts and some are quite challenging. This is the book that developed my younger son's maze skills.

OUR STORY: Almost 40 years ago, long-time educators James Hoffman, Ed.D., and his wife Joan Hoffman, M.A., began a retail supply outlet for teachers, then soon identified a need for at-home learning materials to help parents support and supplement their children's classroom instruction. School Zone Publishing fast emerged as the market leader in workbooks and flashcards for preschoolers through sixth graders.

School Zone remains family-owned, focused on excellence, responsive to customers, alert to emerging technology, and committed to the community. This was a purchase for my four years old son who likes hidden picture activity books a lot. This book is advertised as for 6-8 years old and that is above my child's age however based on his previous experience in solving hidden picture challenges, I wanted to give it a try. The book is 320 pages ( including the final answers section) and feels like a phone book. I can say that 80% of the pages are dedicated for hidden pictures type exercises. Basically, there is a 7X7 inches square image ( a good colorful image of an interesting subject like space, animals etc.) There are 8 objects that are shown in the boxes below and the task is to be able to locate them in the big picture. There are some that even my 2 years old daughter can locate but not much. My 4 years old son can locate around 6 out of 8 and so likes doing the exercises.

The remaining exercises (that are not hidden pictures) are really hard and even I as an adult have difficulties understanding and completing them at first glance. But I think a 7 or 8 years old child could do most of them with some adult supervision. These extra tasks involve dot connection (but not a regular series completion which you connect the numbers in increasing order to reveal a picture, you have to make a calculation to find your next destination for each steps), complex mazes, coloring number coded tiny sections with different colors to reveal a picture and some multiplayer word games. These extra activities are well dispersed among the rather easier hidden picture pages.

I liked the book a lot and for its huge volume the price tag of $11.5 is reasonable (as of march 2015) You can buy it for a kid of any age (3 to 10) and they would all find it entertaining.

I purchased this for my (almost) 5 year old daughter. She loved it and it has kept her occupied for hours. She does pretty well with finding the hidden pictures for her age. I know the book says ages 6-8 but she can find them all, although it might take her a little while on some of them. I would say about 95% of this book can be completed by a child who cannot read. Most hidden picture pages show an image of the item to look for but some of them just list words.

The mazes are very difficult for her age and more suited for the listed age group. There are also connect-the-dot pages which require double digit adding and subtracting. These are far beyond my daughters skill level so she didn't even attempt them.

Probably more than 90% of this book is hidden pictures. There are also a few mazes, color by number, tic-tac-toe, hangman, and connect-the-dot pages, but the vast majority of the pages are hidden pictures.

There are answers to all the activities in the back, in case you need them. Also, the cover pictured is different than the one I received but the inside it the same.

Even thought a few pages were above my daughter's skill level I would say this workbook is definitely worth purchasing. It is a very thick book with lots of activities. From what I can see it is one of the best options for this out there.

My 5 year old was addicted to these puzzles. They were part of his quiet box, and the book was so large it kept him occupied for a couple of months. He loved the colorful graphics and there were so many hidden picture puzzles, he didn't mind the few math pages that were too challenging for him.

Purchased this for my seven-year-old son when we went on a long trip by airplane, train and car. He really loved it. It is really thick and has lots of seek and find pictures. The pictures are all in color (a lot of the hidden picture books only have the book cover in color, but mot the pictures). He much prefers color and will use it much more often. His five year old sister also got into the act and they would try to find the hidden pictures together (and not fight) - I love it and I would definitely recommend this book. If there's another one that comes out, I would buy it too!

My daughter (4 years old) is obsessed with hidden pictures, so it was great to find a "big" book with a lot of them in one place! She loved it! She didn't love the mazes etc thrown in, but maybe that would appeal to other kids. Great value for a kid who loves hidden pictures!

My daughter found a similar book of her cousins at her grandparents house, and told her daddy to send me a pic and to find her a different one for home! Shes 7 and will find lots to do in this fun book!

When it came, I was not sure it was going to be liked by my child, but it turns out that she is totally into it and we are currently using it as part of homeschool activities.
We love this book, we bought it last years Christmas (2016) and our boys did every single page! We bought it again this year for Christmas and it ended up being the exact same inside pages with a different cover. The boys still loved it and are diligently working through it again!
