The Rainbow Fish is an extremely pretty book. It is an excellent story with a message that sharing will made you happy for doing a good deed and win you friends. It also carries the message that it you are selfish, you won't have any friends. Although this book was recommenended for a 6 year old, it seems to be more for someone to read to a younger child. However, a 6 year old would gain confidence reading this by themselves. It's an excellent book for a child to grow up with, having it read to them, then being able to read it themselves. оставлен 1221pamelab28.

I was surprised that it wasn't the full book. They shortened it for the hardcover version. Ended up just buying the soft color to get the story I remember.
Vivados
I didn't realize the board book version of this story was truncated. Major bummer!
Darkshaper
I don't care for the message of the book. It wants to teach sharing but it comes off as buying friends and dulling your shine for others. Eff that. Be fabulous.
Micelhorav
This is a wonderful book. It has a message about not being selfish, giving of ourselves, putting others first, and being a friend. I am an adult and I have it in my library, and occasionally have an opportunity to share it with young ones. I gave them away as gifts also.

My granddaughter teaches the 1st grade. I go to her school and read to her students. I bought this book to read to them. They loved it. I also had pictures of the Rainbow Fish printed, black and white, and handed one to each student for them to color. They had so much fun coloring the fish.
Abandoned Electrical
The board book is on the smaller side, which I don't actually mind. My two year old can carry it around with one hand, and the pictures are still large enough to enjoy. This was one of my favorite books from when I was a child, my daughter loves it too. When we talk about the "message" of the story together, it is that sharing makes you and others feel good. The word Socialism never even came to mind.

I saw this was on sale on another site and so I came to Amazon, quick glance at the 4 stars, ok, great I will buy it. I didn't read the reviews so was not aware of the debate. I read through the book when it arrived and I just would never recommend this to anyone particularly a child. Having the fish literally remove parts of himself to gain friends...yikes. Not a great message for young kids in my opinion.
The original, a classic with unique and engaging artwork. My daughter treasured this 20 years ago and on her recommendation ordered it for the newest member of our family. The price was unreal! Those special deals before Christmas are worth watching for.
