I live overseas and I LOVE how it truly has a recipe for all of the basics. I am glad the price went down to something more affordable.
One of my favorite cookbooks! Very simple recipes that you can make with ingredients on hand.
I have one of these that I bought years ago and have people rave about the things I make from it. Simple dishes but very flavorful. When I found this couldn't resist buying it for a friend that has been searching for one.
This is an excellent cookbook to anyone going in the mission field in a third world country. It gives many recipes for things that you can just buy off the shelf in the U.S.- marshmallows, tortillas, pancake syrup. It also gives a lot of make shift recipes for things that are hard to get abroad like sour cream or buttermilk. In many of the recipes there are other items listed that you can use if you don't have the first or other items that would work just as well. I have used this book extensively for the past ten years on the field. It is the one I grab for the most. Thinking about going on the mission field or know someone who is, this is the cook book to get. I love it!
I went on a mission trip to Vanuatu, living in a village and sleeping in a hut. During the day we would eat the indegenious food, and during the evening our host would cook us these amazing meals. I found out she had this book, and I definiately recommend it to anyone going on the field. It offers a lot of substitutes if you can't get what you need, and the meals turn out great!
