Iannuzzi is the author of several books: The Mafia Cookbook, Cooking on the Lam, and his autobiography Joe Dogs: The Life and Crimes of a Mobster  . Iannuzzi is the first cousin of restaurateur Oswaldo ("Ozzie") Carpanzano who owned "Alfredo's", a fine Italian Restaurant located in Boynton Beach, Florida. At the age of 4 or 5, Iannuzzi would accompany his father on his collection rounds.

In The Mafia Cookbook, Joe Dogs took the quintessential Mob formula - murder, betrayal, food - and turned it into a bestseller, not surprisingly, since Joe Dogs's mixture of authentic Italian recipes and colorful Mafia anecdotes is as much fun to read as it is to cook from.

Cooking to Die For. I was not familiar with Joe Dogs and his other books, so like others, thought this was a fictional mobster in witness protection. Who Knew? The stories are funny and the recipes are quick and tasty. It's a cute hook on 30-minute meals gone Italiano - so eat and run. Call me crazy but I liked it.

I found "Joe Dogs" first cookbook in a used book store a few years ago and loved reading it...the stories as well as the recipes. It has since been updated, but I just keep my old one. When I saw this one at Amazon.com, I grabbed it. I have loved every recipe I've tried of Joe Dogs' and so has my husband. His marinara sauce is simple and fabulous, for one.
I recently copied one of his recipes to friends online and now, I watch out for retaliation for not paying attention to the copyright rules. Afterall, Joe Dogs is the real deal and paybacks can be rough with these Mafia guys.
Just joking, Joseph has made a new (legal) career for himself with pure talent for food and the written word. The illustrations are great too. I've learned to love this guy.

The MOB stories were funny, and about half the recipes were good. BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTT, too much BADA BING BADA BOOM, I nail this brode and so on. a MUCH better MOB cookbook is Henry Hill's.
