Madame Wong's Long-Life Chinese Cookbook. Published by Thriftbooks. com User, 19 years ago. This is absolutely the best book on Chinese cooking! The recipes are easy to follow and most of the ingredients are easily found in your local supermarket. I've been preparing authentic Chinese dishes from this book for over 20 years now. In fact, this is my second copy - I wore the original out after years of use and was lucky enough to get a second copy at a low-traffic book store. This book is so authentic, you'll have some real challenges finding and properly preparing the ingredients.

Madam Wong's Long-Life Chinese Cookbook. From an academic standpoint, it allows me to trace the history of food and cooking in a particular part of the world, an.

I am Chinese and grew up on really great Chinese food. My grandparents owned a restaurant and I helped out as a kid. Now I have a family and I want to make really delicious food for my kids, and it needs to be somewhat healthy too. Honestly I don't care about authenticity; I only care if a recipe taste good. I have a nanny who used to do all of the cooking. Now I do 80% of the cooking because I bought 100 cookbooks over the last 3 years, and wanted to learn to cook for my family. This cookbook is old, but the recipes are classic and everyone I've tried is a winner. Some of the newer fancier cookbooks are nicer to look at, but when it comes down to great tasting recipes, this cookbook may be my favorite. Remember-don't judge a book by it's cover. This one is old, but the recipes are timeless and they still out-beat the ones in the newer books.

This has been the best cook book ever. The recipes are time consuming however worth it. We have a family tradition of making one of the recipes for Christmas Eve dinner (winter garden special). Her other recipes are very good too but expect to spend an hour in prep and a hour in cleaning up. The ingredients are not cheap these days but when you want an authentic amazing meal try one of these meals. Most of the dishes can be made with out meat you can use vegetable stock instead of chicken or beef.

I wore my first version of this cookbook out. I bought my Westbend Wok about 25 years ago and it came with this book. The wok has long since died and I have new, more authentic wok, but still use Madam Wong's Long Life cookbook. Excellent recipes that are usually fairly fast and easy and you don't have to batter and fry the meat in order to cut back on fat/calories.

Ordered this for my mother, who used to have this exact book (which got dropped in oil one day, and couldn't be read) . She loves it! It's the exact same recipes, and came in on time. As for small blemishes it was a lovely used book; everything that was wrong with it was mentioned by the seller like small dings on the edges of the cover. Overall, it was exactly what we were looking for.

I purchased two of these out-of-print cookbooks, one to replace my old one that's falling apart after 30 years of use, and the other for my granddaughter who loves cook books and cooking. Absolutely wonderful recipes for Chinese cooking and all recipes can be modified to suit personal tastes.

I love this book - got my first copy from a friend who recommended the Walnut Chicken, but I use it for the dim sum recipes. The pork steamed buns and the shrimp toast are to die for. Easy, and delicious! Even better than the very expensive dim sum restaurant we went to in Washington, DC's Chinatown.
I can't find my first copy of this book, and don't want to be without it, so I am ordering another copy. If I ever find the first one, I will give a copy to my daughter. These recipes are too good to ever lose!

Lost my original copy from the 80s. My incentive for getting way into Chinese cooking. I use it as a guide. I don't have the electric wok and I modify a lot of it because I don't like deep fry everything.
Approximately 20yrs ago or so my mother-in-law gave me this cook book. I have used it & loved it ever since. My daughter is now married, she asked me if she can have this cookbook. I Still use it, so I ordered her own.. She was so excited to use it...
