I ordered this hoping for some new ideas of make ahead or easy grill entrees that can be transported to a picnic and gotten ready with no electricity. OK, for me the drinks and desserts section was not a big draw. I can figure out a pitcher of something and a tupperware of brownies on my own. But creative appetizers, salads, and entrees that taste good at room temperature or can be easily heated up on a grill. That's what I wanted. The salads and appetizers were okay, but the entrees were almost all sandwiches! There were only five entrees that were not some kind of sandwich. And two were baked chicken. Not exactly innovative picnic ideas. Also no table of contents, just an index that does not break it down by course. Pretty pictures but it is going on a shelf.

Although beautifully staged and photographed ... these settings are soo bulky and heavy ...

that to carefully pack them up and cart them to someplace beautiful ...

would be many trips ...

thus ultimately limiting you to going no where ...

or few places where you can park right next to beauty without a mob surrounding you with asphalt ...

We would say it is almost clueless to what real freedom an insulated backpack and Rubbermaid Premiere, non BPA food containers affords in reaching the creme de la creme spots ...

ultimately tres' outdated ... and unrealistic ...

one is always striving to find the best design and materials regarding LIGHTWEIGHT, PORTABLE, RUGGED, AND COMPACT ... this ain't it ...

this is outdated and not that creative ... it is totally staged ... more likely a backyard picnic ... a stone's throw from the storage shelves galore you would need to accommodate such settings ...

the primo way to do it is through a well designed, harmonious, ergonomic brilliant insulated back pack design w/ insulated titanium plate; insulated mug, and spork; and a basic Swiss Army knife ...

This was for a wedding shower gift to accompany the bride's wish list picnic hamper and ground throw. I thought it would be a unique addition along with a set of pretty cloth napkins and tea towels. She loved it!

This cookbook has great recipes in it. I have tried a couple of the recipes so far and they were delicious.

Loved the Cabin Cooking book from the same series, but this one was a disappointment. Just not very many recipes I would actually make and alot of them weren't very "picnic" friendly in my opinoin...not to pack up and take away from home. Perhaps a picnic in the backyard...defeated the purpose of the book though.

So, every women should have a little black dress. Well, this is the book for summer picnics. It's very easy, fast and great tasting. I use this book to whip of quick picnic receipes with my nieces and grandkids. Cooking among some teenagers is becoming a lost art and the grandkids are always eager. When we use this book they don't even feel like they're cooking and then we can head for the picnic ground, beach or the backyard for some good eating and swimming.
