Steven Raichlen (born March 11, 1953, in Nagoya, Japan) is an American culinary writer, TV host, and most recently novelist. Steven Raichlen was born in Nagoya, Japan and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, US. He graduated in 1975 from Reed College with a Bachelor of Arts in French literature. He received a Thomas J. Watson Foundation Fellowship to study medieval cooking in Europe, and was offered a Fulbright Scholarship to study comparative literature.

I recently purchased a Cuisinart 4 in 1 griddle/grill machine for our apartment, and was looking for a cookbook that would have specific timing/temperature instructions for an indoor grill, as well as some recipes tailored to indoor grill use. While I found the recipes a little too overdone/complicated for our liking, the book did provide some good tips for cooking meat and other types of food on an indoor grill. I liked that it has instructions for a lot of different types of indoor grills, because not all are made equal! In the end, this is a good reference book to have on hand, but we won't be reaching to it for new recipes to try that often.
We have loved Steven Raichlen's BBQ University on PBS and this book does not disappoint!
Lots of great recipes and wonderful tips for safe grilling indoors.
He even offers tips for using different types of indoor grills from the grill pan on the stove to the electric contact grill; from the built in grill to a fireplace grill. You can even learn how to smoke salmon in a wok! Panini or Cuban sandwiches anyone?
In fact, I loved this book so much I ordered all of Raichlen's cook books.

I love this book. I bought it, along with a number of others in the Kindle edition, because I am running out of bookshelves.
This is the cookbook that I open time and time again, and I can't wait to start trying the recipes. I have enjoyed seeing Steve Raichlen's TV program about grilling, but my living situation didn't really accommodate an outdoor grill. I do, however own a contact grill and several grill pans, which I have had for sometime. Now, I understand how to use them much better, and I can finally enjoy Steve Raichlen's recipes. The book has lots of good and very interesting Information,and is well-organized with a good index, which some cookbook authors and publishers don't seem to realize is important.
I have been grilling for almost 30 years on my back deck. I bought an indoor grill for the winter, and purchased this book at the same time. What a great book. What great ideas. No weird recipes to go to the ethnic store, or anything. Just a great book that will help you in your needs in the kitchen. Great book at a grat price.
Another great book - am so glad he takes into considerstion that everyone is not able to cook outside on a grille - and all the receipes are good and easy to follow - if he comes out with another one for indoor cooking I'll definitely buy it - thanks Steven
The greatest grilling book I ever received. It contains everything I need to know concerning grilling indoors with my electric grill. it is full of excellent recipes.
