There's something special about slow-cooked meals - whether it's the smell of stew bubbling away on the stove, or the sight of a succulent joint of meat roasting to tender perfection in the oven, they're always well worth the wait. Each recipe in this book is accompanied by nutritional information.

the recipes use many different foods that I'm not used to eating and the directions are mostly European. Interesting to read but I doubt if I use any of the recipes.

I am rediscovering my slowcooker. Lately I have made several new dishes for my family. The ones in this cookbook are healthier and have less sodium than my previous recipes.
Bluecliff
I liked this cookbook because it was a little different from others I own. The author is using different measurements than I am used to but has given a conversion chart to help you out. The book provides some recipes that I have not tried before, making it a good addition to my cookbook collection.
Nirad
OK. Some of the measurements were not American.

The temps are confusing at first for us Yanks, but worth the trouble to look up. Such wonderful recipes! I'm glad I took a chance and bought the book.

This book is worthless to me and a waste of money. The measurements are European grams, etc. I only know American measurements as I live in the USA. I feel cheated as I should have been told about this in the book description.

These are all British recipes. I couldn't find one that I was interested in trying.
I saw this book in the shop where I work and decided to buy it as I love slow cooked meals in the Winter. I was so inspired that I am even looking into buying a slow cooker, now that someone is giving me an Amazon gift voucher, only there doesn't seem to be any slow cooker without a lot of negative reviews. The most heard complaint is that slow cookers boil the food to death. Well, do you then need a slow cooker? I don't think so… but back to this book. All recipes come with very nice photos, which is a real bonus because I hate a cook book which doesn't inspire me! The down side, which you see on other BBC books is the constant mention of diets. I don't mind if publishers edit diet books at all but I do resent, in case they are not specific about it, that they keep mentioning certain diets. As a healthy person I buy cook books for my pleasure and I don't want to be confronted with health problems. If one day I have any I will research suitable books but not now! The recipes look quite delicious and there are a few for desserts, which I will be trying out. For the moment I have only read the book from cover to cover. Most ingredients seem to be straight forward! The measurements are not in cups, only metric and imperial!
