There is so much information in this little book. The evolution of the dinner table with evolution of napkin use.
The history behind our current enjoyment at the dinner table. Very interesting!
This is a little concise encyclopedia of the correct etiquette at the dinner table for casual and formal events today.
Also, when going to dinner at another home, you can see and understand the settings quickly.
Appreciated this lovely read and will continue to review over and over again.

This book covers every question that anyone could ever have concerning serving or setting a table! Much research has been done to cover the historical aspects of why we have serving pieces to eat from and the mannerisms that go with mealtime. Each chapter gives a wealth of information about everything "table" related. The only disappointment I had about the book is the fact that there are no color pictures included anywhere. I would have loved to have seen tablescapes with actual pictures. The only pictures included in the book are pencil sketches of dish layouts. I'm sure the author wanted readers to be able to use any pattern of dishes for her layouts. Color pictures would have just made the book perfect for me! A great book to have on hand for answering any question you will ever have about setting a table.

I have purchased this book for each of my Granddaughters. It is an easy, readable guide to setting a beautiful table. While our lifestyles in 2011 are not as rigid as they were in 1911, the dishes, flatware, stemware, etc, have not changed so my Granddaughters will know what each item is to be used for which purpose when they use my Grandmother's china, silver and crystal.

Many of us etiquette trainers refer pass valuable information along to each other via a LinkedIn group. This book was highly recommended because of our various thoughts about certain table manners.

This book covers aspects I never even thought of which makes it extremely valuable to me for my future dining etiquette training sessions.

(In case you're wondering why Mrs Geek [poker maniac]is writing about etiquette, I wear another hat as an etiquette trainer.)
