Abby McDonald pulled that off perfectly; making Alice so sympathetic to the reader. So the premise of this book is a good one in my opi The Liberation of Alice Love is the story of a woman named Alice (of course) who is leading a very ordinary, reliable life. The book was incredibly well written and once it got into it’s stride, I really ate up the pages. I was slightly worried how you would end a book with such complex ties to finish up, but I was satisfied enough. Until she realizes that someone has stolen her identity, her life savings, and has run up thousands of dollars worth of bills.

Abby Mcdonald veins. Older, somehow, but freer too. She studied her reflection in the mirror as if seeing someone else. Her body seemed lush and vivid, backlit by the burn of sunset, framed by dark, rich fabrics. And, Alice thought for the first time, perfect

Alice isn't always likable, there are points in this book where I couldn't stand her, but she comes across as a real person. Alice is full of faults, insecurities, and untapped potential. As you read this book you will feel for her problems, cringe at her mistakes, and applaud for her when she stands up for herself. The plot itself brings something unique to a sort of "chick-lit-lite" book.

Alice Love is living the perfect, if uneventful, life. She has a large savings account built up, perfect credit, a decent job, and a life that is drama (and adventure) free. That all changes when she meets Ella at a yoga class. The two become friends fast, like they'd known each other for years. Then Ella leaves without a word and Alice discovers her perfect life has started to fall apart around her. Her credit is ruined, her savings gone, and her life just got a lot more complicated. In an attempt to figure out what went wrong, Alice takes on the persona of the woman who ruined her life and finds out that while she's been planning for her life she's forgotten to live it.

If there's one thing McDonald does well in this book, it's craft a main character. While the story of a woman going through a life altering crisis to find herself isn't new, I like the twist McDonald throws at you. Identity theft is a real worry and seeing it as the pivotal point in the text creates an interesting dynamic. The other characters, however, aren't quite as dynamic as Alice and come across a little flat. Even the antagonist Ella doesn't seem quite as developed as she should be.

I found "The Liberation of Alice Love" to be an entertaining read, but not as original as I would have liked. McDonald brings a unique twist to her story line, of identity theft forcing her main character to come to terms with her identity, but other than that it feels like a lot of the same old thing you'll find in any other "chick-lit" book. While the side characters in this book feel flat, the dynamic Alice Love will keep you reading and you will want to find out how it all ends once you start. I'd keep this book on hand for a rainy day.

I'm usually not fond of books with an English/British setting but this book proved to be the exception. The book demonstrates that there is actually no "good" or "bad" that happens to us, it's only our perception of the event. Many times in my earlier life something would happen that I thought was "the worst thing that could have happened to me" but eventually discovered that the event/happening was the BEST thing that could have happened to me. Now I just go with the flow and know that whatever happens, it is ultimately for my highest good.

This book started out interesting and was a fairly good read throughout most of it. But as the story progressed, it became more and more ridiculous - almost as if the author didn't know where to go with the story. It is unfortunate, because if it hadn't crossed over into ridiculous (it is the only word I can come up with for what happens), it could have been a good book overall.

I liked this story and all of the characters. It was interesting to see the growth in Alice and the changes in her interactions with and reaction to others in her life as she goes through her own stressful situation. The ending was a bit hokey, but not offensive. I have already recommended this book to several friends.

I downloaded this book to read on my iPad quite a while ago. I began reading with no expectations. It was a little slow to get into, but then I was hooked! I am no longer anywhere near the age of the characters nor do I live in England, but the character and plot development were superb and totally believable. Kudos to this young author.

I would recommend this. It's a fun, relaxing book. Her life in many ways is so interesting and all of her stalking behaviors are so funny you can't help but keep reading. The characters were believable and you really felt for them.
Not a deep book but definitely a lot of fun.
I really enjoyed this book. It certainly isn't great literature, but it was entertaining and fun. Just what the doctor ordered!
