Kay Hooper has given you a darn good ride, and there are far too few of those these days. The Philadelphia Inquirer. Hiding in the shadows. Don’t miss Kay Hooper’s latest novels of suspense.

I love that Kay Hooper never fails to enthrall me in her books. The mysteries also keep me hooked and she is one of the few mystery writers that I don't figure out the ending before the ending.

The thought, though slightly unnerving, wasn’t enough to stop Amanda. She went on, following the path that led through the woods toward the west.

The thought, though slightly unnerving, wasn’t enough to stop Amanda. It meandered, going left around one tree and right around another, past azalea bushes no longer in bloom and honeysuckle thickets that smelled sweet. One bend in the path nearly wrapped itself around a huge granite boulder before straightening out to climb a rocky slope. Just a restful evening stroll to cool off. It was certainly cooler in the woods, but.

Kay Hooper is a New York Times bestselling American author of more than 60 books. Kay Hooper was born in 1958 in California. Her father, an Air Force employee, was stationed in an Air Force base hospital and the family lived there at the base. Shortly after Kay was born, the family moved back to North Carolina where Kay was raised and went to school. Kay is single and still lives in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, close to her family

Others have claimed to be Amanda Daulton, but now a beautiful, self-assured. Kay Hooper weaves a tale of intrigue and a Southern family's hostility that pulls you in. Interestingly, I wasn't even sure whether the heroine of the story, who claims she's Amanda Daulton, actually was Amanda Daulton until about two-thirds of the way through the story. I thought it was clever the way Ms. Hooper kept me guessing about Amanda's true identity. My criticisms of the book would be that the necessary "proofs" that indicated Amanda was, in fact, the Amanda, were a little silly.

Kay Hooper is the award-winning author of Blood Dreams, Sleeping with Fear, Hunting Fear, Chill of Fear, Touching Evil, Whisper of Evil, Sense of Evil, Once a Thief, Always a Thief, the Shadows trilogy, and other novels. She lives in North Carolina, where she is at work on her next book. Библиографические данные.

Definitely the mystery aspect of the story is the focus; the romance did not even begin till book about half over. Once romance started though, while heavily sexual, it was well-done and believable. On the mystery front, it was engaging, there was a solid cast of characters involved, the whodunnit options were sufficient enough that I could at least guess good possibilities yet not be certain ... which means the conclusion was rewarding.

Overall, if you like mystery-romances with a bit more emphasis on the mystery, and you like a gothic vibe, I recommend this book.

Amanda is a wonderful story, full of colorful characters and a quick plot. "Amanda" has returned home after 20 years when she and her mother left when she was a child. She cannot prove that she is the real Amanda, and her relatives are all sceptical. Amanda doesn't really care if they believe her or not. She just wants to know why her mother took her and ran so many years ago. Amanda must deal with an unexpected romantic intrest in her family's lawyer and her old friend, Walker. As she asks questions however horrible things begin to happen. A trainer at the stable is killed, Amanda is poisoned, and her protective dogs go missing, and she can only asume they have been taken. Amanda must find out why her mother took her and ran before it's too late.
This was a very good book, that drew me in. The characters are interesting and the plot keeps you guessing. I've read it many times over the years, and if you like suspenseful romances you will too.

This was the usual for Kay Hooper.
The plot was started immediately and was fleshed out as the book went along.

I have been a fan of Kay Hopper for awhile with my favorites being the Bishop trilogys. I was a bit skeptical that this book wouldn't have that paranormal aspect which I love so much in the Bishop/SCU books, well I was surprised to find that Amanda was a really good book filled with suspense, murder, secrets, love and betrayal. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to start the next book of this era of Kays, After Caroline. Pick up Amanda and you won't be disappointed.
