I love these poems for their universal themes and their ability to verbalize some of the darkest recesses of my own psyche. The "thing which must not be named" perfectly illustrates every mother's greatest fears for her children, and she touches on every mother's sense of inadequacy and every daughter's sense of failure in the eyes of her parents. There is comfort and camaraderie between the lines.
