Angus Wilson's unsettling novel Late Call (1964) is, to my knowledge, the only work of fiction to be set in a postwar new town. It concerns a family in the process of unravelling. In his first book, The Missing, he offers memories of life in one of the first residential neighbourhoods to be completed, Pennyburn. The O'Hagan family might even have been neighbours of David Gosling, the young architect-planner of Irvine, and his Brazilian wife and children, who were to live there for almost three years. Was the little boy lost in the detritus of a construction site, amid the cement mixers and dumper trucks, culverts and drains? Did he fall into the river?

Director: Theodore J. A light, almost beach-party atmosphere pervades this comedy, based on The Late Boy Wonder, a novel by Angus Hall. Larry Hagman plays a college president with political aspirations who flunks out a college student (Wes Stern) and then has the temerity to save the boy from committing suicide. In revenge, the boy decides to bed the three women most important to the nefarious college head, including his wife (Joan Collins). Though he is a real bumbler, somehow he succeeds in wooing the man's wife, daughter, and secretary.

first off wonder boy is not a real album by jim hall. its a new mixed compilation of his early stuff (late 50's to early 60's). Oh, ok-I did not know that. Those interviews you read with Shank and Crow were in the "Fifties Jazz Talk" book I read, and were taken from "Jazz Journal International'. There were 27 interviews/chapters in the book, all fascinating.
