Hayes was born and brought up in rural Berkshire. She read avidly as a child and was. She read avidly as a child and was particularly influenced by the books of Elizabeth Goudge and the Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. Hayes attended Brightwalton Primary School from 1947-50 then St Gabriel’s, Sandleford Priory in Newbury.

I hope you enjoy finding out about me and my books. As a child I was always making up stories but I never thought that one day I would become an author myself. That’s what got me going and I wrote ‘Race Against Time’, a scary time-slip novel about a group of modern children fighting an evil force from the past.

Rosemary Hayes lives and works in Cambridgeshire. She has written numerous books for children including historical and contemporary fiction and fantasy – many of which have been shortlisted for awards. She is also a reader for an authors’ advisory service and enjoys helping unpublished writers to hone their skills. Rosemary lived in Australia for six years, and her first children's novel Race Against Time, set in Australia, was runner-up for the Kathleen Fidler Award.
