The stories are a must read for all Spanish readers. Perfect combination of poems, short stories, novels etc. Shipping took longer than expected and was rescheduled for another day (not good if you need this for school).

My book was quite literally falling apart when I received it. Whenever I have it open on my desk in class I have to be careful otherwise the entire first half of the book falls out in sections

I find it helpful as a Spanish language learner that they define a number of the words that are not used in Spanish today. I wish I was more interested in hispanic literatura but so far I find most of the stories boring. I use this book in my required spanish lit class, so I had to buy it! Maybe by the end of the semester I find it more enlightening!

I had this book as a class textbook almost three years ago. I still carry it around to read and reread in order to practice Spanish via amazing short stories. I have marked it up so much that I will need to purchase another to start all over. It introduced me to a few lesser known Spanish authors (to this North American student) who are not read in the classroom.

Very used condition. Amazon has honestly never failed me with books. They are always in great condition unless otherwise noted (which this was properly advertised). As a college student - I love notes in books, so I actually look for books that have been used versus buying new. It is as if I get to read the thought transformation of another student/reader! I love it. Anyways, this book had a significant amount of notes in it, but I appreciated it. Bent corners and pretty beat up, but the pages were all in tact. The binding was secure as well.

There are always a couple things I check right away when I receive a book: binding, pagination, edition/copyright, and overall condition. I have never been disappointed with a book I've bought of Amazon.

I plan to buy every book I can off of Amazon for the rest of my undergraduate career and all throughout law school.

This book has so many stories, poems and descriptions. The questions are helpful with the learning and understanding. It covers so many different areas of literature.

I am taking a Spanish course in a university. We had to get this book because the course is an introduction to literature course. At the moment I have spent a ton of time reading los cuentos en the book. The stories have been (for me) quite a challenge because they have a lot more complicated vocabulary than I am used to from my previous Spanish courses. I have spent a ton of time in the dictionary to help me understand be able to understand everything. The stories are diverse and the the questions that the book asks after each story helps you to pick out the important details and plots, motives, and ideas of the stories. I think it's a pretty good book for an introduction to literature the writers are from diverse places, the stories where written in different places.

I wouldn't recommend this textbook to a beginner of Spanish though, I think it works better for somebody who is pretty comfortable with the Spanish language and who is pretty dedicated to learning Spanish. If you have been speaking Spanish your entire life then this book shouldn't be too difficult for you (I have only been speaking for about 4 years).
This book has been a great addition to my library. It's a great compilation of well known Hispanic literary works. I am planning to use excerpts of it for my native speaker class in High School. This will help them prepare for the college level material they will be seeing in the future.
