The Prodigal Wife book. The story centers around Jolyon Chadwick, a newly famous television personality

The Prodigal Wife book. If you like Marcia Willett's books, find Goudge's Eliot family chronicle beginning with The Bird in the Tree. Certainly not as contemporary, but well worth the pleasure of reading. The story centers around Jolyon Chadwick, a newly famous television personality. Handsome and charming he nevertheless suffers a lack of confidence as a consequence of his mother's ill treatment and ultimate abandonment.

Just love all of marcia willetts novels, they never fail to be a warm cosy read, and the way in which the various characters appear and interact with one another, becoming entwined in each other's life makes you feel that you really know all these people, her love for nature and Devon and Cornwall, and of the natural surroundings and beauty of. this area shine through. Prodigal wife is all these things reuniting me old characters that I already am familiar with. Can't wait till the 29th for her new book.

Marcia Willett's early life was devoted to the ballet, but her dreams of becoming a ballerina ended when she grew out of the classical proportions required. She had always loved books, and a family crisis made her take up a new career as a novelist - a decision she has never regretted. She lives in a beautiful and wild part of Devon where she loves to be visited by her son and his young family.

Praise for Marcia Willett THE PRODIGAL WIFE. Jolyon, however, is not in the mood for forgiveness - although his father Hal, now married to his cousin and childhood sweetheart, feels a lingering guilt about Marie and wants them all to be friends. The Prodigal Wife - Marcia Willett. Willett is a consistently good author of women's fiction and this was no exception. The story centers around Jolyon Chadwick, a newly famous television personality

The Prodigal Wife - Marcia Willett. It took me a while to figure out who's who but once I did, I was hooked. Willett explores family pressures forcing choices, children of fractured families, strengths of extended families and should parents be friends with their adult children.

<DIV><DIV> Deservedly compared to her countrywomen, Binchy and Pilcher, Willett is an equally gifted storyteller. Booklist In Marcia Willett s latest novel, Jolyon, who had been abandoned by his mother, Maria, is living at the Keep with his father and his stepmother Fliss. Now that Jolyon is a successful television presenter of gardening programs, the recently widowed Maria, lonely and impressed by her son s fame, reappears and hopes to step back into his life. But Jolyon finds it difficult to trust his mother and forgive the hurt she had inflicted on him. </DIV></DIV>

The Prodigal Wife is weaker than the other books in the series (not as long, rehashes previous plots), but if you loved the first three, you'll enjoy this fourth offering, as well. I love Marcia Willet's writing, so even her weaker efforts are worth more to me than the majority of fiction books being published these days.

If you haven't read the previous Chadwick Family Chronicles, you owe it to yourself to read those first!

I had Marcia Willet's Chadwick Family Chronicles on my list of books to order for a long time, and finally treated myself to the entire four books. Oh what a delight! I never would have waited so long had I known how good they were --my only disappointment was when they had ended.

I read all the time, but only rarely run across books that make me think about the characters long after I've finished the books. I grew to know and love the Chadwick family! This is Marcia Willet at her best. She is often advertised as writing in the tradition of Rosamunde Pilcher (another of my favorite writers), but she is a gifted writer who deserves her own recognition.

Here is the order of the series and the publishing dates:

1. Looking Forward (1998)
2. Holding on (1999)
3. Winning Through (2000)
4. The Prodigal Wife (2009)
great ant
Honestly, I don't care that Willett head hops constantly (even to the point of giving us the dogs' point of view), I don't care that the book is highly introspective, that she rehashes, pretty much verbatim, scenes from the first three books in the Chadwick Chronicles, nor do I care that sometimes her plots are thin. The thing is, Marcia Willett gives us characters to love. From page one, we feel an emotional connection to them, and we CARE. I could no more put one of Willett's books down than stop breathing. She is a marvelous writer whose characters live and breathe on the pages, and I feel I am there with them, experiencing everything they are experiencing. Even if all she gave us were her exceptional descriptions of English country life, her books would be worth the money you pay, but she gives us so much more. It was absolutely wonderful to revisit The Keep and to catch up with Hal, Fliss, Jolyon, and the others. Now that I have, I want to go back and re-read the first three books in this series. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
love this British author
Marcia Willett is just awesome - enough said!
I recently "found" Marcia Willett and have been ordering her books to catch up. Her stories are fabulous with the descriptions of the English countryside as well as her characters. The ending on this book surprised me, but it was the right ending.
I have recently discovered Marcia Willett. I bought this book on my Kindle-not realizing it was a continuation of the Chadwick Chronicles-which I have not read as yet.
Thought the story a bit trite-not up to Willett's usual standard
The characters deal with big issues in life, divorce, death, love, betrayal, and how theIr actions affect others. Great insight on how forgiveness of ourselves and others can mend the pain caused by mistakes in life
This was a re-read for me and I loved it more this time than before. I highly recommend Marsha Wilette's books for fun warm reading. The character development allows one to feel they know the people personally.
