Reflecting he had never been called a great, leggy brute before, he sat on a chair that placed him so he could best view his bride. Touching the side of the teapot, Lady Gertrude said, I was hoping for a spot of tea, but it’s cold. She frowned at the shards scattered on the table and the floor.

One Kiss From You: Switching Places by Christina Dodd. One Kiss From You - Christina Dodd. Better than the first book in the series, but not an entire star's worth. A fun story that stretched the boundaries a little bit too far, Eleanor and Remington's story was missing much of the ick factor from Maddie and Gabriel's story, thank goodness. It also had a cute dog, which is always a plus. The revenge subplot was a bit on the confusing side at times, but nicely resolved.

Switching Places SeriesChristina Dodd. One Kiss From You. By Thriftbooks. com User, April 25, 2004. O MY GOD"! is all I can say. This is by far one of the best books I have ever read. This was my first Christina Dodd book and it wont be my last! I didn't realize what I was missing by not reading any Christina Dodd books

Read ONE KISS FROM YOU, the second in the Switching Places series, from Christina Dodd, the author you love.

Read ONE KISS FROM YOU, the second in the Switching Places series, from Christina Dodd, the author you love. The idea of two very diverse characters switching places isn’t a new one, but it was new to me. The scene in book SCANDALOUS AGAIN, when the duchess tries to iron a dress, was a riot. And in book ONE KISS FROM YOU, taking the duchess’s meek companion from a timid mouse to a woman willing to do anything to get and save her man made the entire book a delight to write.

I should have quit at page two when I learned that the "duchess" expected to succeed her father, the duke ~ ala Marlboro, I suppose ~ but he was still alive! But they were "Your Gracing" her right and left. Then, I should have definitely quit a few pages later when the h arrived at the H's home to stay, to live there before their wedding! If an author can't do the most basic research, she's no author.

How many tired, overused plot devices can a single novel have? Well, take a look at this one. We were even gifted with our virginal h knowing all the tricks of the sexual trade...some were even new to the H. (She'd been in a harem in Constantinople for a time, natch.)

There was little known of the characters other than the H was a jerk and the h a ninny (except for her vast knowledge of sex.) The H wanted the "duchess" for social entree, but he never apprised us of his plans for revenge and that was supposedly his big deal. He clearly despised the h so, naturally, she fell in love. And, suddenly, he was in love, too, and on to the HEA.

This novel is proof that *anyone* can be published.

I am always a personal fan of books where the heroine and hero don't see eye-to-eye with each other. As other reviews have mentioned this is a sequel to Scandalous Again, and in my opinion it is a better book. The writing is just as well written, but I find the story line of Eleanor and Remington more interesting, maybe because the true love isn't there immediately and the characters feel more animosity, and grudging desire, in the beginning of the book than any form of mutual understanding.
Needless to say that in this book, Christina Dodd, truly delivers a book that takes full advantage of, shall we say, a slight misrepresentation of identity. When Remington Knight believes that he has won the hand of the duchess of Magnus he is thrilled for a multitude of reasons, one being revenge. Yet it isn't the vivacious duchess of Magnus who shows up at his door, but her companion and cousin, Eleanor de Lacy. Instead of retiring and submitting to Remington's domineering personality Eleanor discovers the woman she was meant to be.

While parts of this novel are very obvious, the story is fun and the characters are interesting and the interactions between them held my attention. I do enjoy the changes as each of them finds that feelings superseded how they thought they were supposed to act. This novel is less filled with details about British moires than many of the period pieces, which I prefer. I have no patience with books where the rules of British aristocracy take precedence over sensibility and self interest.

Historical romance is not a genre I like, but Christina Dodd's writing overrides my genre preferences. I guess I will read anything Christina has written.

So, so, so good. First off, I love trading places stories. I loved how the heroine grew as a person over the course of the book, and gained more confidence - although I thought she was a cool person right from the beginning. I love that the evil stepmother got what was coming to her in the end. And the hero - *sigh* - he was just so sexy, so intelligent, so crazy over the heroine. Anybody who loves the Cynster guys (written by Stephanie Laurens) should love this guy. I also liked that there wasn't a big chunk of time at the end when the hero/heroine were at odds w/ each other. The chemistry between the hero & heroine was phenomenal. This is the 1st full length book by this author I've read, and I will def look for more.

Even the meekest have been known to become tigers when defending someone they love. Eleanor bloomed when in a caring and safe situation. Good that the person who killed her aunt was found and punished and the Merchant family finally had justice.

I like Dodds style in whatever genre. Eleanor is the poor cousin who runs Interference and gets caught in her own game by a worthy and handsome opponent. GOOD STUFF

I just re-read this book, and enjoyed it again. Well-told romance, with a bit of 'whodonit' in the back-story that added good interest without overwhelming the romance. Both leads are like able, their romance unfolds nicely. I recommend this book.
